Schroeder Cabinets ... smart design = very compact ! (regular and lights)

I would say that the Schroeders sound good quiet but as you turn up more, with my rig, they sound better and better...where some cabs start deteriorating soundwise as you turn up. Not the case with both Schroeders I own, but if I was to do a quiet gig, I'd take the 1210 not the 410 obviously.

Again, the schroe's are pitched as a one cabinet solution...not necessarily one cab fits all gigs. That's why there's four categories depending on your individual situation.
I would classify them as mini, small, medium, and large (310212 only candidate in this last category). There's no way my 410 is a large cabinet!! It only sounds like it.

Issue with Eden800B and 1250....stereo power amps, can still only use one 4 ohm cabinet in bridge mode. What's the advantage....anyone know the street prices on these two heads? The 550 on the other hand is just slightly less power (750 watts) at 2 ohms then the 800 is at 4 ohms per side. It's always nice to have more than you need but if you had two Schroe's and 375 watts powering each cabinet, I'm positive you wouldn't have headroom or volume issues + it's gotta be at least $400-600 less for a 550 street price than either the 800B or 1250....please let me know if I'm off here.

Hey Larry;
I've run the WT800 @440 watts/4 ohms out each side, into 410 and 1210. It's, very simply, stunningly loud. I can't imgaine needing that.
I also fired up my Eden Navigator/qsc-plx 1602 putting out 800 watts per side into 410 and 1210...I'm pretty sure you could kill people with that. It really made a huge bass death ray.
I've never gigged with either combination as the single 410 will take either amp's power bridged, and that has easily been enough to cover any big rooms/stages I've played yet...

Just a minor clarification: the PLX1602 is 500Wpc at 4ohm and 800Wpc at 2ohm in stereo or parallel mode.

You'd have to have four 4ohm cabs (two per channel) to get the 800Wpc. ;)

Lkaye-Right.... the Eden WT550 is 700 watts bridged at 2 ohms, but the Schoeders,to my knowledge, aren't made as 2 ohm cabs(only 4 or 8 ohms)-my under standing is that you'd only be able to power one 2ohm cab bf another make at 700 watts...but I'm just beginning to try and figure out these Eden amps...Peace....DAcat

Thanks Chef-I still haven't gotten to try the TF550-having a hard time trying to find one near SE Iowa...Question...how many outputs on the TF 550 and can it be bridged and at what ohms etc? Right now I'm thinking of getting 1 Schro 410 Cab-what kind of wattage will it be getting...Thanks and Peace...DAcat

The TF550 is a mono amp, and puts out 500 watts into 4ohms. Since the Schroeder cabs are so efficient, it would sound great and be plenty loud driving the Schro410. The 410 is a 4ohm cab, so that is a perfect match (... the WT550 also would sound great IMO with that cab).

There's obviously features and some overall power advantages to the 800 and 1250 edens, but my point was that a 550, with 500 watts at 4 and 750 or 700? at 2 ohms would give one more than adequate power for a 410 or 21012 schroeder AND give you the flexibility if one wanted to go modular Schroeders like a 1210 and 1212 or a large and medium box combo (I don't know when one would need that but it's always possible) like a 1210 and a 410 or 1212 and 410 for example.

I know and understand that all the small, large, and extra large schroe's are 4 ohm cabinets. Again, I believe Jorg designed his stuff, other than the mini's which are 8 ohms, right?, to be single cabinet solutions taking advantage of most bass amps minimum 4 ohm loads. I was just remarking that you could get a 550 Eden which has enough power to push a 410 just fine and the flexibility to handle a second 4 ohm cabinet for many hundreds less than an 800 and many many hundreds less than the 1250, if you're budget is limited.

I personally do not like the tone of SWR or Eden heads. That's just me and obviously not the majority of us low frequency nuts.

Hey Larry;
Yes, Schroeders are designed to be one cab solutions I believe...and the 410 is that for me in large rooms, 1210 for everything else.
I don't find my Eden WT800B, or Navigator to sound very SWR-ish, and would not group them in the same category myself...I find the Eden to be warmer, rounder, and a little more bottom heavy.
Having said all that, my Eden gear is doing a pretty good job of getting dusty anymore. I take the TFB420 and 410 or 1210 to all my jobs anymore;) Killer!

I don't like either of them. Don't have to sound alike not to like 'em, know what I mean? Don't love the sound raw of anything I've heard. Gotta find someone that either has or sells TF's somewhere within a couple of hours drive of good old Cleveland. I'd like nothing more than just carrying a head with no eq to my gigs, but for now, my trusty ole 31 band Dod goes everywhere my Schroe's go and lordy everything sounds just fine to me....the lightest head with the most power / lowest price point is where I'm at currently....600 watts, 4 pounds, $1000.00....soon to be 800 watts for similar moolah I hope, but I don't need 800 watts at 4 ohms with the Schroe's.

I try to use the 1210 as much as possible and because of nothing more than shlepping reasons, take the 410 only when necessary. There are several places we play that the 410 is the "only" way to go for me. They are again....med to larger rooms where there's lousy acoustics, very loud, high ceilings, little acoustical tile, playing down the long side of the rectangle vs across (can use the 1210 playing to a short dancefloor and then the wall).

I like the sound of the 1210 "better" than the 410 when in the better acoustic rooms but the 410 just has so much oomph and punch, it's going to more and more of my gigs, even with PA support.

That's all for now. Playing in Pittsburgh this weekend at a wedding. We'll see which cab makes the trip!!!

Just for anyone who's interested... I was just on bassgear.com, and some guy in Texas is selling two Schroeder 410's for $800 each. I have no idea who this guy is, so I'm not claiming anything about him one way or the other, but I know there's a lot of GAS floating around for Jorg's stuff, and since these don't come up often, I thought I'd pass it along. :)

Whoa whoa- I wonder where and who that guy is... Not that I have the scratch immediately, but dayum... That's an insane deal!

Wait wait... Gotta stop, breathe... I said I really wanted the 21012, so I can't get a 410 anyhow... :( But will be traveling this weekend if I could possibly pick them up for someone!

As a verrrrry happy 410 user I can say with confidence, you can push tons of low end outta that thing. More than I've needed so far...

Also gotta say I've not had the chance to audition a 21012...

I've heard this and it intrigues me to be quite honest... But a decision as such must require a trip to Pete's shop in Lewsiville to determine the ultimate outcome. :)

I knew my 1210 was gonna own regardless, but a step up is going to require more info...

I'm sure that a couple of 12's and a 10 + 2 tweeters would make for a very strong gigging combination. Let us know how it turns out live, likes and dislikes if there are some.

Once I'm financially able to do a focus "slave" amp in addition to the focus1, so that we can run two cabinets without thinking about if the original Focus 1A can run two ohms reliably, I will, unless Jorg comes up with a UL version of the 410 or 21012 where the cabinet will weigh in at say under 55ish pounds, try to work out a deal to get a 1212 and sell the 410. That would give me a modular system capable of filling literally any venue, with 1200-1400 watts at a 2 ohm load (600 at 4), weighing in at a total of about 110ish pounds.

Not bad.

For those more physically fit than I am which is likely 98% of the bass playing world under 60 years old!!!, the 410, with casters and a little help from your friends, is not a terrible thing schlepp wise....but, in my case combining the I load it, unload it, load it, unload it every gig with no help from anyone, my fairly sensitive back, and my not being in shape nearly to my liking, I just gotta be very selective. At least it's not an awkward cabinet....I mean 23 x 23 x 16 is much easier to manage at 78 pounds than the typical 410 of similar weight. Like I said, I waiting for the day when Jorg can show us a UL equivalent.....but, can, with money in pocket, go to a modular system and not break one's back currently.
