Schroeder Cabinets ... smart design = very compact ! (regular and lights)

over the years. I've used 1000 watts @ 4 with 700 watt capacity cabs, and 1200 watts into 700 watt capacity cabs and have never blown a speaker yeat. I think where ya get into problems more often is really cranking a 100 to even up to 300 watt solid state head into a cab or a couple of cabs that can handle a lot more. The more you turn up in an underpowered situation, the more bad shtuff goes through to the speakers, funny looking waveforms that are not good to do.

Getting back to Schroeders specifically, my guess is that 1250 watts into a large cab, 410 or 21012 is perfect but if you bass boost like a dub reggae player you could overdrive the speakers even with the high wattage capacity. I've found that with both my 1210 and 410 that I don't need to boost the bottom end more than a hair if at all EXCEPT in really really dry rooms...almost studio quality stage sound. Then you can diliigentyly crank the lows a bit more...just my preference.

No :rollno: -I agree with Chef- I don't see a problem at all-I probably just wouldn't turn it up to 10 ,though....might want to send this ? to Jorg...

I run mine w/ an Ampeg SVP1600 that can run up to 1200w continous, peaking at 1600w...the way I read things, that is right in the 21012's ballpark. (note: this speaker is so efficient, I have NEVER had to run it at that power load).

Also, I'd contacted Jorg before deciding on the cab, and based on my power amp, the 21012 was one of the cabs he recommended.

I put casters on my 410 and tend to leave them on. Have any of you noticed the difference without them on vs with? I also am going to see how turning the cabinet sideways effects the tone too...it seems that if both front firing speakers we on the bottom of the cabinet and the side firing ones were facing up, that might be an alternate way of using the cabinet when the room and stage area are boomy/echoey, so you not only hear yourself a little better but also reduce the boominess? maybe?

Regarding the casters, how much difference can there be between the four rubber feet having direct contact on the stage floor or the four wheels? I would think, again, I'm not sure on this one, that maybe, again if the room was boomyish, the casters staying on might lower it slightly if you're playing on a stage, but if you're right on the floor, I don't know if there would be much difference.

Again, just wondering what you guys with the 410 or 21012 might have tried if anything.

thanks

Larry,

I wound up getting a mover's dolly at a local outlet for my 21012; it is convenient in that you can use it for multiple loads, not just your cab. I was going to order casters on my cab when I bought it, but decided to just get a cart instead. I usually just leave my cab on the dolly when I gig (unless I have to pick it up to put it on a raised stage, then I won't bother with it) and haven't had any complaints...my presence is every bit as stout as the 8x10 I used to lug around.

I have a rack and roll cart that everything can usually fit on with enough room to help whoever needs it when I set up or tear down. I added wheels to the 410 as even on the smaller stages, getting that puppy up there and shelpped even 20 feet is getting to be a load for me. I can't wait for the 21012 light to come out as I think that will be my cabinet of choice, knowing what I know today. Aside from the weight of my 410, it sounds absolutely fantastic, and I've set it up in my living/dining/sunroom with the slanted 10's facing up to see how it affects the tone. That will be the next experiment on my New Year's gig as the room is really boomy.

Good luck with your upcoming cab. When do you think you'll be potentially ordering the Schroe?

I have the Schroeder 1212 which I power with a WT-400. I think I am a little underpowered here, I want to get something more powerful ie QSC 3402. Would I notice a difference in the 1212 with the extra power?
I also would like to get a pre-amp (any recomendations ) and not use the WT400.
Any thoughts?
When these lightweights come out I will probably add another 1212.

If you like the tone of the WT-400 get a bigger Eden amp. The WT-800B or the new WT-1205 would work nicely.

If you want a preamp/poweramp setup get an Eden Navigator and a WT-1250 poweramp.

Either option from Eden will kill!

BTW, I too am looking at Jorg's stuff. Not sure on configuration yet but I will be getting together with him soon and figuring it out.

Thanks Mike, for the quick reply.
I bought my Schroeder, months ago, sight unseen based on this thread. I'm very happy with it.
I wanna go with a power amp and use one side for my bass and the other for 2 EV sx300 speakers for the PA.
I'll definitely look at the Navigator.

How much are you looking to spend?

Also, what type of tone are you after?

I would spend upto $500 on a preamp.
I need two different sounds: an agressive Eden type sound for fast numbers that I play with a pick, and a softer sound for my slow numbers that I play fingerstyle.

Hey LKaye-do you have permanently mounted casters or removable....and do your casters ever rattle or make other undesirable noises... ...Thanks...

LOL You gotta try the new WT-1205. Two channels, 1,200 watts of asskicking tone. It is not cheap though. The list is right at $2,200 but you should be able to buy one for about $1,350.00 (that is almost 40% off list and the most I would pay through a retailer).

The lowest I've seen this amp quoted so far was around $1500 which was a real downer for me. I was hoping to get it at around the number you were talking about or even a little lower. I guess Eden isn't producing too many of these guys which is keeping the price up there, or else, it could be a super high-demand item. I know it's No.1 on my "to-buy" list right now. That's going to be one kick-@ss amp! The only thing that I was a little disappointed with on the WT-1205 was that the preamp is different from what's on the WT-550 and WT-800. I absolutely love that original preamp design, and I'm not too sure why it was changed.
I think the WT-1205 would work nicely with my 1210 and 1212.

The new 800(b) is slightly less expensive, has the wonderful semi-parametric mids, runs down to 4ohms bridged, and has just a very slightly lower power rating. If you don't need the two channels, seems like the new 800 is a better choice IMO.

They are being built as fast as possible. Go to Guitar Center offer them $1,350 for one and have them order it. It'll take a few weeks to get it and whammo!

I contacted my rep at Eden and got it in a week. Yes, my price was much lower than the $1,350 I told you to pay for it. But, that is what I did before I ever had a deal with any company. 40% of list and that was it. I rarely heard a peep. You just can't talk to the normal sales tool. Go find the manager.

About the EQ. One reason for the change on THIS MODEL is that a lot of people weren't doing a lot of tweaking. I have set all my Eden gear (WT-800, Navigator Pre and now the 1205) flat. Most just adjust the Enhance a bit.

But, a lot of people wanted two channels that were different enough to make a difference. The real cool new thing is the Dynamic Boost section. These enhance the bottom and make the top shimmer (a lot like the Aural Exciter from Aphex) but it is intuative. It changes with volume. At lower volume it adds more and slowly decreases as the volume is maxed. I think it really kicks ass! Great for keeping your low end at lower volumes.

More effects return options. Dual Compressors (one for each channel). A killer footswitch (included). I just love it.

If you do not tweak much and like the idea of two channel diversity -- get one. If you tweak more and need only one channel get the 800b.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread. Just to be upfront, I have a deal with Eden BUT I am not a sales rep for them. I am an artist with them. Slink mentioned he had an Eden head and I suggested IF he liked the Eden sound to get this head.

IF you don't like the Eden sound get something else. Thunderfunk makes me Gas something fierce but I need more power than 500 watts.

I just don't want to be seen as trying to promote or sell Eden even though I do have a deal with them.

I am also really looking at Jorg's stuff. Especially the lighter NEO's. The idea of a modular system of either two 1210's or a 1210 and a 1010 has me gasing. The 310212 has my attention too for outdoor festivals and stuff like that.

BTW, the 800b is only slightly cheaper as KJung mentioned.

I'm gonna try out the 410 on it's side, sidefiring speakers facing up, at my New Year's eve gig. We'll find out real quickly whether the casters are rattler's or not and I'll let you know. Regardless, I'm playing an extremely "classy" gig and the wheels are gonna be taken off the cabinet once I've given them a rattle test at gig volume. I'll let you know Jan 1 whether the casters make noise or not.

To Jorg, Schroederites and potential Schroderites, Have a safe, healthy, successful, and clean and punchy, hearable bass New Year. Thanks Jorg.

WOW, there is a lot of messages to get through here, only got to page 17 so far but have almost decided to get a Schroeder, just not sure which one.
Jorg has suggested a Mini12+ for my needs but i cant see any mention of it here (but then ive not read all the pages).
Anyone using one or have a picture of one with something else in the pic as a reference. im just a bit worried about how small it is. i know size isnt everything but i get the feeling it would look a bit small on stage with me standing in front of it.
My other choice would be the 1210 or 1212. ill be running a ABM 300watt head in to it and will only be using one cab.
thanks

Dave.

Here's a pic of a mini12 (not mini+) under a 1210 with a Trace V6 on top of that. The mini12 I have is insanely loud for such a small box.

Thanks for the quick reply.
That setup looks so small. i believe the cabs are as good as everyone says they are but im having a big, big problem with the size. i really think ill have to go for a 1210 or 1212 and even then they look the same size, just a bit wider.
I keep hearing how big they sound for their size but does that just mean they sound louder than a small box would suggest or that they sound loud period?
anyone know of any soundbites or recordings i can listen to?
Being in uk there is no way i can try before i buy

thanks again

dave.
