Ok I got mine.
I haven't had the chance yet to give it a try with my band.
So I tell you more later, however all I can say is that the little monster is LOUD!!!
It also has plenty of tight basses(compared to my Marshall 4*10). I had to put them down when I hit the first note. The tweeter is as sweet as a candy(I now know what a tweeter is;) ). I describe the sound as a full growly signal with tight basses and heavenly highs.
My 127lbs 4*10 is for sale. As I said I don't know yet how it will perform in a band but, I'm convinced it's going to be as good as other have said before.

It's probably one of the smartest things Carvin has done, but if I know Jorg......he could always build a 1212 with a rack-space on top if the market wanted it :cool:

I think offering "Airhead" (2 to 4 rack spaces above the cab) style cabs in the smaller configurations is an excellent idea, so we could build are own combos. I've been considering a 1210, 1212, or 1010. If it came in an airhead style cab I'd have to do it.

Yeah, it's basically the Tech / Schroeder style turned on end.

Looks a bit heavy for a neo-equipped box, but the quoted specs are pretty nice. +/- 3 dB from 42 Hz to 22 kHz is pretty darn flat for a bass cab. At 800 watts it ought to kick pretty good.

Now that I think about it, downward-angled woofers have been around a
long time for PA gear, usually referred to as a "scoop" design.

But I'm a bit confused because I've usually seen "scoop" mean
a front-firing driver that is horn-loaded to the rear...

Oddly, the Schroeder (and presumably the earlier Tech designs) doesn't quite seem to be any of these. The angled scoop seems to require a fairly large opening from the rear of the cab into the back of the scoop area. If you open the back panel of a Schroeder you'll find only two ports there. It seems to be sort of a hybrid of angled-scoop and conventional ported cab design, but the interior volume is a bit smallish for a conventional 2x12 port design (it seems to be about 3800 cubic inches on the 1212, a little over 2 cubic feet) and the scoop area is pretty small. I don't really get it, but the ports firing into the small scoop area just seems to work.
Aw heck, I'm just talking out my ass here.

A lot of us seem to like the Schroeder tweeter... today I decided to satisfy my curiosity, pop the grille off and see what's in there. Turns out it's one of these: http://www.usspeaker.com/paudio pht-409-1.htm
P.Audio HT-409, 8 ohms, 15 watts.

... now that I have this knowledge, what do I do with it? :hmm:

I also noticed that the crossover appears to be a simple 2nd-order high-pass filter to the tweeter, and no filtering to the 12" drivers, but I barely glanced at it.

Another difference between the Carvin & Schroeder is that the Carvin cab is sealed (at least that's what their info says).

I just took a look at the tweeter in my 1210, and it looks nothing like that. Mine is square, not rectangle. But I've had my 1210 for a while, maybe things have changed.

I was a bit puzzled by your comment, Biker4him, so I just searched this megathread and sure enough, you have the selenium option... Jorg said so when you posted a pic of your rig way back in post #715.

Mine looks just like the ones pictured on the Schroeder website, which are clearly rectangular. Like this:

As for the wattage rating, the tweeter in my cab clearly says 15W on the back of it, and the model number is printed right on it, and the same wattage is listed on every reference to that tweeter I can find online. The 100w number appears only on the Schroeder site, and I have no idea why. Jorg, if you're reading, care to clarify?
