I'm currently saving for one of these:

2009 Harley FLSTSB Softail Crossbones. I never thought I'd want another bike until Harley came out with almost the exact bike that's been in my dreams for years.

Cool looking HD - hope you can get it!

Thanks. One of my dad's good friends is the owner of two H-D dealerships in the Atlanta area, so I'm hoping he'll be able to help me get one set-up just how I want it: black exhaust, a larger black FatBoy headlight, and a few smaller accessories to help black-out the engine a little more.

I'd recommend rethinking the larger headlight. (1) You're going to have VERY limited options for headlight on top of the springer front end. (2) Why would you want to visually distract from the GOREGEOUS blacked out springer?????!?!?!??!

In person the stock headlight doesn't look like it "fits". I've seen one outfitted with a larger headlight (IIRC 5 1/2" vs. 3 1/2"), and it looked more appropriate. I'd like to also change that rear fender. The little "duck tail" looking thing just doesn't fit the overall personality of the bike, IMO. I like the chopped look on the Street Bob or Sportster Nightster, and think that would be the best way to go with this old-school bobber look.

Yes...we're in agreement...with a different rear fender (small as possible, with a plate frame on the swingarm if possible, imo) & a larger headlight, that thing would be incredible. I just don't understand how harley, in all their history, can't grasp the little obvious things like that. Always co close, but always something a bit screwy, either coming or going...hell, even the rear fender / seat setup on the "rocker c" would look so much better on that bike.

I thought about adding the Rocker seat to it, as it kind of keeps the same look and gives you the option of the hidden passenger seat, but the classic spring seat is one of the main things that drew me to that model. For now this will only be for me to ride, so I'm not worried about the passenger seat. I looked into the Rocker fender, but think the smaller the better, too.

That massive front wheel/tire doesn't really do much for the look either if that's what you're going for. I think that bike looks fantastic as it is. Best looking Softail I've seen since the short-lived "Bad Boy" model.

Considering the original Bobber bikes were modified military Harleys, at least as I've understood the history, as they predate choppers, I'd say that tire is just about perfect, except that it should be heavy whitewall.

Long rides? I went from Jackson, MI to Tulsa, OK then across the south to the east then back to Michigan in a week. It wasn't to bad...then again it was the first time out of the state by myself as an adult...so I probably didn't notice to much!

Got rid of the 900 Ducati SuperSport 2 years ago because it was a torture rack, lowered clip ons that made in unbearable for long rides. (I set it up for roadracing) I'm now in the market for a cruiser.

I made the pipes out of straight pieces & radius bends, chopped & modified a $20 ebay gastank and a friend of mine painted it (black & HOK gold flake...I love flake!), made the license plate bracket, made the Jockey Shifter & clutch cable bracket, a friend of mine made the handle bars to my specs, another friend of mine recovered my seat in tooled cowhide, re-did a lot of the electrical, rebuilt the top end with dual-plug heads, cams, ignition module, etc...there are still some plans for it though, just not any time soon.

"It's custom...you can't get that"
lol

That Crossbones has me torn, I like it because their probably some of the most "custom" looking bikes to come from Harleys current lineup but then again it's ridiculous, a soft tail with a sprung seat...to each his own I guess.

^^^^Now Eddies Sportster that's cool!^^^

Here's my project Buell XB Chop, it's complete for now, this winter it will get taken back apart and the frame powdercoated and the tins (gas tank and fender) painted nice not sure what color yet, just know it will have a lot of large metal flake.:bassist: It's been a joy to finally ride it.
