I have always said that a good rider on a 600 will beat an average rider on a 1000 on a track any day of the week. It is all in how you can take the corners. And my 2001 ST2 just pitching in to Barn Corner at Cadwell Park on a trackday

People really underestimate the humble 85 bhp ST2, but it tours well, does country roads well, and even punches above it's weight on track. On that particular trackday I was interviewed by Bike magazine because my ST2 was giving one of their journalists a hard time catching me on their 1098S

Carters for Ducati & Jawa are both cast by CZ
I don't know if these will be legible or not. Being an old fart, I don't have any digital images of any of my bikes, since I quit riding and racing in 1994. I however, have ridden any and all bikes in those days, from AJS to Zundapp, been on them all. Used to ride on the back of my Uncles Vincent Black Shadow, when I was a kid. My Dad ran AJS,Matchless, and BMW's. My Uncle ran a Ducati and Norton shop for many years. I started hillclimbing in 1964, and quit in 1994. The best I ever did was National #8, in 1986. These pics were from Hot Bike magazine from August of 1992. This was my last hillclimber. A 1986 EVO motored 1340, w/100HP at the rear tire. My brother rode it in the 1994 Nationals to Nat#9. We quit then. To old to go as fast as the up coming kids anymore. After my accident, in a car, in 2000, I can't ride anymore. Sure miss it!
I have ridden many Jawa's and CZ's. Gotta be an old fart to remember Joel Roberts on the old CZ twin pipe 250, taking the World Championship motocross title away from all the old guard back in I think 66 or 67. I used to ride a 1950's twin pipe Jawa 250 single, and had several CZ moto bikes, 250's and 380's. The only bike that you can slam gears on, without using the clutch, and not even chipping a gear tooth. The best metalurgy and machining went into the Jawa speedway bikes and the moto bikes engines. I have many fond memories of them all!
Jawa has used that, shift lever as , clutch lever, starting lever, and shifter, since the 60's for sure, maybe even as far back as the 50's. I even had a 350 twin similar to yours, only mine was an early 60's model. They had this sweet finned cover over the carb. All the Jawa's too, are just about bullet proof. Very hard to kill one of them. If you can get gas and oil in them, they will always run, when all the other bikes won't.
Used to ride on the back of my Uncles Vincent Black Shadow!
Trouble is with riding motorcycles and playing bass is that the GAS is never ending....what to do with the next £5000 I manage to save?
Custom Sei Bass Flambouyant 5 string, plus change for a new amp? Or.... A set of Dymag carbon fibre wheels plus some Ohlins road and track forks? Aarrrrrrghhhhh!
