I picked up a mint MB-2 yesterday, I've wanted one for a long time and it was far too good a deal to pass up.
It came strung with TI flats, which I like very much. It also came with a new set of LaBella tapes.
I put the tapes on as soon as I got home, and really like them on this bass. The 760n set is a bit bigger and stiffer than I prefer - wondering if anyone's tried the 750n set and how the bass liked them.

The neck is a totally stunning feature ... shame it's only you get the benefit ... or will you play with back to the audience to everyone can see ? 
I always use the Rotosound RS88 set on my Deep 4 (have on both of 'em I've owned). I don't like LaBella strings. The Solid 4 which I just sold used the RS77LE set. I've been curious about Galli strings personally.

If you've ever talked to Rob, he's amazing when it comes to wood and presentation. All of my basses from him have been stunning no matter where you look.
Get a genuine "ATA Flight Series" case from Anvil. They'll send you an order form with instructions on how to take measurements of your bass and how to draw a template, and then a couple months later this incredibly huge heavy tank will show up via UPS and land on your foot and break your toe. But you won't care because your bass will be floating in plush swanky security.
Should have something new to show this week. Rob says its nice. Then again ll his instruments are.
What did you order?
I'm going to experiment with Galli strings on my D4 soon. I snapped an A string on mine and need to have them changed anyway. It'll be interesting to see how they differ from the RS88s.
Deep 5, 34" scale. Alder body, koa top, unlined fretless. Should be the second-to-last bass in the house completing the transition back to 5-string.

I don't have any pics - in fact I've forgotten what it looked like. iirc it isn't that crazy of a top, but it likely will age really will. My walnut top 4-string looks amazing now after a couple of years. A buddy of mine is buying that from me - he's been eyeing it for years.
Have any of you guys restrung? I still have the original strings on mine and have had them for many years. I have always heard that the strings get better over time. Just wondering how long is too long.
The strings on my D4 were fine until I snapped the A string recently really digging in during a big band rehearsal. I think the A is a .100, so ...
I don't use the LaBellas; I use the Rotosound RS88. The RS88 has been my go-to fretless set since my first one (a G&L L-1000) in the 90s. My P fretless has my standard RS77 set to contrast with the black nylons on the D4.
As a general rule, strings on all my basses last 5+ years (the set where the A string snapped was about 6). I also use flats everywhere, but at some point they do get very, very dead. I use my ear to know.
For the first time in years, I'm experimenting and putting the Galli black nylon tapewounds on next since the A broke. I'll go back to the Rotos if they don't work.

There's a point with all flats and nylon tapewounds where they go from broken in and still great to dull. Truth be told, I was at that point with my D4 anyway. Some of that is a function of how much you play it, however, you should not have to change the strings frequently. You know the sound you like. When you're not getting it any more and you have the same setup, that's probably the time.
Starting to GAS hard for a mouse but I haven't seen any in the classifieds recently. Any ideas on other places to look for a used mouse?
