i vote the 810 or 2 410s..... i love 15s... I use a 2x15 and sometimes double that (for no good reason)....

I played through an ampeg 810e and it sounded great... so I'm going to look for one of those

Thank you everybody that has given their input on bass rigs so far!
I should've put or 2X410 also, as that was one of my thoughts too.
I've been advised before that combining 115 with 410 wasn't an ultimate choice and 2X410 would be better. I'm glad to see that in this poll as well.
I'm thinking about selling my PR-410HLF to buy a 810...or find another PR-410HLF...which is scarce as Frog feathers. Lol
I like the diversity with 2X410's you can stack them, put them on opposite sides of stage, or just take one for small gigs.

I like the ease of moving one frig 810. My PR-410HLF weighs 128#, so a frig wouldn't be much more, less for some. That 410HLF does put out the thunder though.

I have thought about going with 215 also. I love that low frequency!
But I like the quick response of 10's too.

I do have my B-15T Portaflex Fliptop for small gigs.
I was contemplating buying a SVT-115, but wanted to get your all's feedback.

Agreed. I had no idea he played bass. Unless of course this is some kind of awesome photoshop job. I'm not really good at telling the difference. Lol

Speaking of actors who play spectors, I remember reading somewhere that Jeff bridges played one. I know he plays bass, but can anyone confirm that he ever played a Spector? Itd be really awesome to see a pic of The Dude rocking a Spector. :bassist:

Had both type setups, 8x10 hands down. The svt brings it's own tone to the party, but 10's in general do so much for bass. I thought I was a 15 guy till I played an 8x10. If you want the 10" goodness. But not the svt tone I highly recomend the fender pro series 8x10 (yes I'm actually recommending a fender product). Their 8x10 is built like an svt 4x2x10. But has 2small ports per chamber. It has a bit more low end but stays tight. Has a horn also. I almost bought one, it sounded great, but i had to have that ampeg tone :)

I talked to the dudes from Grinning Elk about it and just missed out on getting Blackie... so I "settled" for Brownie... ;)

15 pounds? :eek: WOW! I knew i had seen that bass before and pulled out my "Killing in Korea" DVD and there it was. He used that flame Rex bass for a good amount of the songs in the concert. Was "blackie" a 4 string or a 5? He used a black NS-4 and also a black NS-5 in that DVD so I am curious.

All this amp talk made me finally decide to dig out my out amp that was buried the garage.

A Peavey Mark IV Series head and a 4X10 Dynacoustics cabinet.
Keep in mind I havent played through anything like this in many years. I currently use a Hartke A25 practice amp and play through my PC with Sennheiser headphones.

I think I may have just discovered the the new meaning of Spector growl. It just sounded amazing. :eek::bassist:
I dont remember my Pedulla and ESP ever sounding anything like this :ninja:
..... but we all that already. ;)

Cant wait to try some speaker micing for my next recording. :hyper:

P.S. Anyone know more about Dynacoustics? From what I have read they where a company in NJ that manufactured speaker cabinets GK & Hartke?

I remember something when I got it that it was was poorman's Hartke cabinet

Here is a photo, need to do some cleaning up its been in there for 18+ years.

+1 I got my 810E for $500!

I have a good friend who plays in a respected metal band, he said that for him, the 810's are the best thing he's ever played.
Considering he puts his rig through immense torture, playing shows world-wide and going on tours for months at a time, I take his advice seriously ;)

I am working on getting him to like Spectors!! :D
