You are correct.

On a Single Action Truss Rod...

Looking down the neck from the top of the headstock towards the bridge...
Yes, Clockwise tightens the truss rod pulling the neck back hence the term "TENSION".
Counter Clockwise loosens the truss rod allowing the strings to pull the neck forward. Hence the term "RELIEF".

With dual action the above applies until you get to null - no tension on the rod.
Continued COUNTER CLOCKWISE turning of the truss rod creates a PUSH tension forcing the neck forward (forced relief) adding/creating artificial relief when the string tension is not enough to pull the neck forward enough to correct fret buzz on a properly fret dressed neck.

I know I'm a tad behind in the post history. I think this is a pretty clear explanation.

If you are adjusting the rod from a playing position, the JPS's CW/CCW reversal would make sense as he would be looking at the allen wrence from the oother direction unless it were a left handed bass.

Brent, also check the trimpot in the cavity and make sure the gain is not turned way low. About 50-60% should be where it's set, but experiment with it.

Guy, that is a gorgeous bass!

Note to self: do NOT go through a 3 day weekend without keeping up with the Spector Club. You guys are on a speed posting frenzy! LOL

I've always been a nickel man, steel rounds are too CLANKY.
I play almost exclusively DR Sunbeams, they almost never die.
Though the set of Spector nickels I got from Lima are pretty awesome, just never had them on a Spector haha.

Steel is good in flats though :D

Ill be honest, I have Dean Markley Pro Steels (I think, they may be super rounds) and I don't like them. Well the tone is good, but I can't move as fast as I can on nickels. Especially when it comes to melodic tapping (more like sliding). I am currently on a string hunt. :) I liked D'Addario Regular Light Gauge but they seemed a tad to bright.

For those of you still not sure because of all the extra stuff JPS and I addressed, this is a perfect, simple explaination of how 99% of the truss rods you come across will work.

The only caveat is, if you are working on a bass with the adjustment at the body end of the neck, this still all holds true when looking at it from that direction.

I use Aurora colored strings, they're nickel. Oh and my GK neo410 just came in the mail. I ordered it used from Guitar Center but the fools didn't send a speaker cable so I can't even play it. I have to wait till Tuesday at the earliest for a cable I ordered.

did you purchase the speaker cable at the same time? as much as i think they are bad with info or advice.. theyre usually good at shipping things out lol
