Bolt on spectors vs. neck thru Spectors.....your opinon.....

GO!

I have only test driven the bolt on Spectors and have never really played one. I like the neck thru basses that I have, the NS2A has a great profile and is very stable (never have had to adjust the neck relief) and the Ultraviolet NS2 has a bright sound with the BEM board, I have been checking it often because of the high tension strings but it has remained true (at first I wasn't expecting the brightness but I enjoy it with the DR Lo-Riders). The Black Cherry NS2 sounds punchy with a nice mid growl, the neck relief is sitting at the max so I will keep my eye on it during the change of seasons....both of the NS2 basses have a beefy neck thickness compared to the NS2A.

I've owned both. Well, still own my ReBop 5. Had an NS-2000/5.
They play very similarly. The NS-2000/5 had a thicker neck, and weighed more. The weight was probably more to do with using maple instead of alder for the body, though.

Attack and sustain were similar. Tone was virtually identical. My only beef is that the ReBop necks due tend to be a little soft. Can easily bend my neck with a little pressure. This might just be MY neck, though. The Legends I've played were very solid. That being said, my Rebop was solid from season to season. I just wish the truss rod hadn't seized. Again, that's MY Rebop, not Rebops as a whole.

On a somewhat Spector-related note.
What would you guys think of an Epiphone EB-3L equipped with a non-trim Tonepump?
As I'm putting an EMG BQC in my ReBop, when the neck is fixed, I'll have one lying around.
I was originally going to use it in a Fender/Spector P hybrid I'm working on (Spector Legend bridge, EMG 40HZ pickups, Tonepump) but I may put a BQC or BTC in there, too.

Ok guys, I did the song over again, but this time I actually did the track behind the song and posted it up. Let me know what you think.

Awesome tone and great playing to boot!

The P/DC combo is really excellent, still the classic Spector growl with a little added beef :bassist:

PSA - My Black Cherry Euro is still up for grabs if anyone is looking for a killer deal on a killer bass. Looking to parlay it into another Spector so I'm motivated to move it. Link in my sig!

On a similar note, so is my NS-2J SE-1...club pricing is obviously in effect, and I'm considering an additional price reduction for a week or two as well...I honestly feel bad that it hasn't been played at all since the NS-2 arrived :hmm:

On a totally unrelated note...looking through eBay for the rare Spector deal (that's how I found my Coda :D) I'm consistently befuddled by how many people don't understand the bidding system AT ALL...

Why on earth would someone place a multi-hundred dollar bid on an item during the first day when they're only currently listed for a few dollars? Those folks have surely never won a single eBay auction by doing so, and that is the definition of insanity right there.

In fact, why do people even bother bidding on anything at all until the final day/hour/minutes of the listing? Such silliness...

Those are the snipers my friend! :)

I used to snipe consistently...but with a full 9-5 job now, it's difficult to keep track of all my auctions. So, I bid with my top dollar amount and wait. If I don't win, I don't win. I wouldn't have won if I had been sniping anyways, as I won't go above my top dollar EVER.

A buddy of mine used to snipe people and I'd sit there and watch him do it. He got sniped a few times and I'd laugh like hell at him because he'd get so mad. I told him karma's a bitch. :smug:
