Heh, some guys'd kill for your SB (me for one, but I have too many and the lady'd kill ME), put it on the classifieds and buy a Freeman!

That's how feel about the vintage frets on my CV jazz too. Action nice and low too.

Played a gig with it last night and it just shook the whole tavern.:hyper::bassist:

I'm still pretty impressed with the stock pup's.

Wasn't meant to be all that serious though as much as I love GHS PFlats they didn't work well on my Jazz Bass at all. Might as well have deactivated the tone pot.

I put Pressure Wounds on it and it made a whole new instrument out of it. A whole lot more tonal expression and I can still dial in the tone of those flats if I want it.

The PFlats are sitting on the sidelines waiting for the PBass I pick up later this year. :D

Even 4 years ago when this was uploaded (Hence the lack of HD :() I thought the Jazz was the one with the most audible difference in sound. However, you gotta admit that he's comparing it to a 46 years old bass, so it would be hard to nail the sound. Also, as previously stated, no one will notice in a full band situation :cool:

PS: In either case, a pickup upgrade isn't $100 USD too far ;)

Was it even an original 62 or was it a newer CS 62 RI? I thought that latter? Well in any event to me it wasn't a case of the 62 sounding so much better that you'd leap at the difference and like I said in the mix the difference would just disappear.

I played a 66 Jazz for years and I can't honestly say there is all that much difference between that and the CV tonally or in playability nor between the CV and a half dozen others JBasses I've owned.

We all have our druthers but for the price (which is about what they cost in 1966) it's a pretty exceptional instrument.

Anyone having issues with the CV bridge saddles rattling? Mine began when I put flats on. A string: I have searched and tightened everything including backing off the trussrod all the way to re-seat it and it won't stop. I noticed the saddle screws are flat on the bottom sitting in round grooves and that the saddles are very close to each other.... rattling?

Exactly the same experience, but I haven't put as much effort into troubleshooting. I'll be going to a tech in the next few weeks and thought I'd get his input. I'll post any progress and ask the same from you.

iJazz - Not too worried about it.
