stoner/doom bassist thread part 2: suspicious smoke

I like to think we did.. but Im partial. But on the other hand, it was one of the first shows Ive played where I actually started gettin qweezie in the stomach for most of the day before we played, cos there were some SERIOUSLY good bands there, and while we were playing in front of alot of people who have seen us before and friends and fans, I was feeling nervous about following so many bands on their "A- Game".
After watching Admiral Browning, Lo-Pan, Earthride, Electric Magma, Demonaut and alot of others totally lay it down it was a little intimidating.. plus our second guitarist was gone for the last month so he hasnt practiced with us AT ALL since June... but he can do that and still be on point, but it wracked my nerves for sure.

Yeah I skimmed through those articles when I saw them pop up on facebook. Good stuff man! I know what you mean about being a little intimidated with who you're playing with. I kind of felt that way opening for The Ocean although I rarely get nervous for shows so it didn't really bother me!

we need to do one together sometime, but I dont know when we can.. we have one show that we are on in Sept, but our 2nd guitarist just moved to morgantown. He's stickin with the band, but we have to wait a little to see what his new job allows for before we do anything...

Has anyone played an Electrical Guitar Company bass? One of my buddies just got an Agostino Tilotta model guitar, and it is sweet.

Of course I know of bassist who use them (Sanford Parker of Minsk, Jonathan Nuñez of Torche, Bob Weston has an 8-string), just don't know of anyone personally. I tried to bump an old thread, but no responses so far.

I played a old kramer with the wood inserts, it was a heavy bugger. And the wood shrunk in the neck. Still wish I owned it just too much stuff wrong with it. I wish the wood inserts would not of been their then I could of gave you a better idea. I talked to Steve brooks of torche and he said he likes them because they stay in tune and always have good intonation, even in crappy weather.

dont count on tshirt sales to pay the gas.. geez youll be hitchin!
count on good hosting bands who try to take care of the out of towners instead of trying to grub up all the door for themselves..

Haha oh I know. But right now our only merch are free business cards to download our album for free online haha so I'd like to have a little more merch than that.

Just keep the grove and no one will notice your mistakes. Our last show during one of our songs we all cut out as one guitarist starts a 12 measure transition and he completely skipped it and we were all sorts of ****ed. Took us a few seconds to fully recover but people at the show we asked afterward didn't even notice. Probably more them not paying attention than anything ;)
