Super smart dogs like Border Collies, Sheepdogs, any kind of herding dog, etc need near-constant stimulation. They ARE smart, but they're also highly energetic and will get into trouble if they're not occupied with some kind of complex game or task.

Well I have a large yard with wooded area. And packages are delivered to a door unreachable from said back yard. My house is split and I'm buying some pet gates to corral her if need be.

I want to be by her side often as I can and train her very very well. I spent like then entire day reading about handling this kind of puppy and how to keep it entertained, as well as how to train the thing and properly socialize it.

It's a double edged sword I do realized. I want a dog that can go out and walk/run miles a day with me and be trained to do many things and behave. Granted it's smart enough to not do any of that, it seems like people who rear it from young and give it positive reinforcement and attention can get a really good hiking buddy.

And I'll never go back to apartments. Houses and yards for life...

We're not trying to give you the beat down, we're just wanting to make sure you, and your new best buddy, are going to have a long happy life together. Always remember, your dog has no options on home, companionship, loneliness, boredom, hunger, etc. As a good pet owner, there are going to be times when you will have to sublimate your plans/desires to hers.

Non-doom band request since I think some of you dig that style. I have been slammed with migraines so have been trying to find bands that are the rock side of Americana(not acoustic stuff) and fuzzy pop like Guided By Voices and Centro-Matic, etc. Any suggestions? Not too heavy but still dirty, fuzzy, with stick out bass hopefully. My effen damn head isn't allowing much of the heavy lately.

Man Bryce I wish you were closer to get one of the pups I have now. Cockeranians. Smaller than a cocker spaniel but big enough to take hiking and the ladies love them too. Charlie are cocker had one last fling in before he got snipped and knocked up Eevee who was also scheduled to get snipped.

To get grind. Dime the pre and use the main for volume. For clean headroom reverse that, Dime the main and use the pre for a level. As for engagement of the filters, let your ears decide.

A friend of mine got a Great Pyrenees when his kids were younger and said it did the same thing...kids would be trying to head to the car to go out, the dog would herd them back to the porch.

Brother, I am so sorry. I am lucky not to get them chronically like you do, but I've had migraines and it's impossible to convey how debilitating those fvckers are if you haven't experienced one.

To me, the onset comes with instantaneous severe nausea. The head pain is so over the top it affects every other part and system of your body. They are just crippling. I wish I knew of anything I could suggest that might offer you relief.

Maybe, as you have said, moving to a less humid climate might help. I hold good thoughts for you.

I dig the first 2 or 3 Sparklehorse albums...




Acetone were a great band, but often verrry mellow.




A buddy of mine really likes 16 Horsepower but I'm not that familiar with them.

I have another friend who keeps trying to turn me onto this band Delta Spirit. They are pretty cool, but I've only watched a couple of their videos.

Maybe some old Whiskeytown?



Giant Sand is another band I'd suggest checking out...

My wife really digs this kind of stuff...Americana, No Depression, alt.country, etc. but she tends to prefer the more acoustic stuff...I'll pick her brains...

Thanks brother. I have really strange migraines, daily chronic headaches and then a trigger they can lead to eyestabbers as I call them. I have been seeing several specialists for years with no luck. I think weather and allergies/sinuses swell my cavities and they pinch my trigeminal nerve is my best guess. The aura is the real devil, like today I am in la la land, dizzy and reading my work over and over again so I don't make mistakes. Triptans work but that is about it. I feel like that animal that knows a storms is coming so it eats and then beds down, but that is me wanting to munch on fast food while driving to Arizona LOL.

Thanks for the tips on the bands, I will check them out. Probably saying Americana was probably the wrong genre although some bands seem to hit on that sound. I guess Indie Rock? is what I was really looking for. I stumbled on Stardeath and White Dwarfs today, that is more trippy, I had no idea they did the Dark Side of the Moon tribute with The Flaming Lips.

Wasn't Sparklehorse on of those "Band on the Run" bands?
16 Horsepower is primarily acoustic, very dirge-y.
Giant Sand rocks.
