Dunno how old you are but I'm from 1968. I did grow up on drive ins around St. Paul MN then Tulsa and always try to go if I find one in an area I'm traveling through. I've been to drive ins in 15 states and sometimes multiple ones within a state.
Yes, I geek out about it.
I distinctly remember seeing a bunch of trash B horror flicks...some were old replays from earlier decades but there was lots of cool schlock horror stuff from the time that seemed purposefully aimed at drive in play...

At the Admiral Twin in Tulsa they used to have old Shaw Bros. 70s triple feature kung fu Sunday. I miss certain things about that time. I don't know if I get nostalgic to be that age again or just miss the ways things were somewhat different then.
Either way, I suck.

Drive-in movies are the best, I grew up with them and one of them is still open back in NEPA. I took the ol' lady and the little one for their first visit to one, they loved it too. It is along the Susquehanna River with mountains on either side, just an awesome place to be, nothing nicer then a northern summer night at the drive-in.
@Muddslide Here are two pics of the Bo Diddley basses that Bobby sent me. I may have to get that pbass version. I got a Dimarzio model p sitting in a drawer just waiting for a body. Though I think I want a double or maybe even a triple p bass.
Not sure of the exact stats anymore but PA was really where drive ins took off the fastest and in the greatest numbers.
I believe at the zenith of the drive in theatre Pennsylvania had the highest number of drive ins nationally and I think they currently have the most still operational of any state.

I'm a P guy more than a J guy. Figured that out long ago. I like Jazz basses fine, I've owned several nice ones, but never bonded. Some of my favorite players play Js almost exclusively.
Yeah I prefer P basses too. I actually love the comfort of a jazz bass body even a little more then a p bass body. Wish they made more jazz basses with p bass pickups in them. I wonder how comfy the Diddley body would be sitting down? Also trying to figure out where the rear strap lock button would have to be mounted. I really want to hold off on another build till boring winter time again. Finally working on finishing up the 1991 Kawasaki EX500 I got for $400, four years ago. Paying insurance and tags on it and it is just sitting for no reason other then some minimal wrenching. So I keep telling myself finish that before another build.
Snapped some pics of Muffin, pretty small for 12 weeks old. I felt all The Big Lebowski when I found this at Big Lots tonight.
I'm using a set on my 5 string, they sound good, not really bright or zingy at all. More tension at standard tunings, which i wanted for a tighter b string. Can drop down to A and be stable no sweat, with some setup work I could probably make G work. So yeah, I like them.
I took my RAT clone to the practice last night, it worked so well on one of the new songs we're making and I'm gassing for some booteek RAT again.
As much as I'd love to get the new MXR, Volt Thrower, Iron Pig or a Rat Tail, price, shipping fees and probability of custom fees are deal breakers. I'll probably get Abominable's Don't Shred On Me as it's the cheapest.
So there, here goes my GAS free life... it was a nice month of not wanting to buy stuff

Drive-in ended up being closed, which would be the type of thing that I'd mention on my website if I ran a drive-in movie theater. Drove 27 miles one way only to discover that they're not actually open seven days a week yet (their website said that they would be on a 7 day schedule after Memorial Day, which it is).
Oh well, we'll probably go back this weekend.
Ha ha ha I actually just drank a cup at work. I just noticed there are Kava bars and realized that it is the cultural drink I saw on a travel show Vanuatu episode I watched recently. Now I want to find out how to make my own. I got an anxiety=migraines theory going on right now.
Since idk what prescription X is, I thought kava was a stimulant in line with coffee. So it's a mellower?

Kava is goddamn miracle drug for people with anxiety that don't want to get strung out on benzodiazepines (or have been refused access to those drugs by your doctor). It works every bit as well as the X word, with none of the tolerance or dependence issues. Practically zero side-effects other than maybe making you a little sleepy. ...also - this isn't herbalist bullsh*t there's actual active ingredients that actually work.
