thank you sir. it was a lot of fun. the fog kind of threw a wrench in our "watch me for the changes" plan but we faked our way through a 30 min set.

be careful when you tell the sound guy to "go nuts" with the fog. lesson learned

Yo doom dudes. Im looking to upgrade my cab. I have a Trace elliot ah300-12 head (Not the usual doom head, but i dig it, especially takes pedals well). Also have a fendet jazz bass on the horizon. I play currently through a 4x10 swr workingman. Its jyst ok. Not bad, but not great. Thinking of a ampeg svt 6x10, as my head is 4ohms. Any other cabs to look at? Also thought maybe an old peavey 215d.

Old Peavey 2x15 with black widows is a very nice loud cab on a budget. I'd take it over any ampeg hlf cab tbh. They're also as plentiful as bunnies (half the world's population might be Peavey amps and cabs).

Yep, Peavey cabs are built to survive anything you can pump out of them.

never played the fender but i owned the ampeg. was not very loud. a bit muddy, and just sort of bland sounding. did not snarl or sound aggressive when pushed. it just kind of farted out and fell apart

I played my Traynor Monoblock head thru an Ampeg fridge with 8 10's and the sound was as you just described.

that's unusual unless it was one of the dark sounding SLM era cabs. those dark cabs will open up but it takes A LOT of volume before they do.

Not sure what to make of it, was a loaner at a jam space that I never used again. Surprised me since Ampeg is a strong brand. It was a really old model too.

I found the ampeg more "open" sounding vs the swr I have. I'll have to check out the fender cabs too. I'm waffling between a 4x10 or 6x10 vs 2 1x15s or 2x15.

I use a 2x15. It gets nice and loud.

Not sure I've only heard em on YouTube. I just said it as a joke due to the two drive and gain knobs.

That was my experience with an older Ampeg 6x10. The size was nice, but yeah not loud and never really opened up before farting. Granted 3 speakers had been re-coned or replaced.

Arrived yesterday.
So far I'm impressed.

Nice dude, way to go with the two band pre. Never cared much for the sound of em myself but I always liked the two band more than the three band.
