I use the reissue exclusively. It can get stupid loud through my vintage Ampeg 8x10. My guitarists both use 4x12’s and Science 100 watt heads and I have no problem competing with them. We ply loud but definitely not at the level of some doom bands.

With knobs at noon, the V4B has flat response, whereas the SVT is a little more voiced with a low hump starting at 100 hz and gets gradually darker as it goes up the frequency spectrum. Not too much but a little bit. But you can get basically the same sounds out of either by working the tone knobs, and I use them interchangeably.
Peavey 'shallow' cab stuffed with Faital 15PR400's, basically resealed and changed the ports.
Little bit late to the party but here’s my board. Just got the Darklgass Ultra X and I got to admit, it’s pretty darn awesome. I don’t use it’s distortion much but its eq, high & low pass filters and other benefits make it a killer pedal in both uses and price. The others aren’t too shabby either after going through countless others.

When I've messed with a V4B I felt like it had a little more mid honk to it than an SVT-CL. Maybe that is the flatter EQ of the V4B talking.
I’m not in a position to play much, if any, louder than my Mesa Rectoverb 50w, so the V4B will most likely be plenty. I sold an Aguilar 700w head because it’s not tonally what I was looking for, not to mention I wasn’t utilizing the head to its fullest potential. I just need to sell the Aguilar 212 and my Basson 210 for a nice Ampeg 212. Lol

Maybe, but you can successfully add the mids back if you want them. I use the 800 hz setting for it.
I use it w/ a Mesa Diesel 2x15 and it slays! I haven't tried it with 2 2x15s yet as there hasn't been much of a need... yet.
I haven't compared vintage to modern V4s. I've read the black box the least desirable, but the reissues are pretty nice, but I can't verify.
I got my new/vintage non master V4 yesterday and it is sweet! On the interwebs, the non master seems more highly regarded. Honsetly, when I compared the 70's non master (black switch) to the 70's master (white switch), they sound really similar when I dime the master of the latter. I know it is a skewed comparison bc the amps that are older than I am, and I'm sure the values of the components have drifted over the years. Regardless, I'm happy!

Well, I finally got around to looking for a new band and I got some leads on a few heavy-ish projects around the Bay Area, talking to some folks who do some mathcore/metalcore stuff so they sent me some material today to start working on. Its not normally a genre I really listen to or know a lot about so I've started listening to some stuff there and, well, its interesting.
I'm gonna see if I can drag some Chelsea Grin or Obscura influence into this, or maybe some of our favorite praise and worship band...
Big plus is these dudes can write stuff in standard notation, which is awesome. While I can't sight read at speed, I can at least read music (slowly, anyways...) and its a huge bonus for learning ish.
Who knows, at the very least its some new and interesting stuff to learn and if it doesn't work out, well, fsk it.

Definitely ask them to show you their praise and worship pedalboards.
If I was into pedal making, I'd make some kind of cool but gnarly fuzz/delay/whatever for bass and name it 'PRAISE AND WORSHIP'.

How about a dual pedal in parallel?
Have one side be a just a drive/distortion of some sort, with a nice 2 or 3 band EQ.(I'd call this side Praise)
Have the other side be an octave fuzz, like a Super-Fuzz clone. (I'd call this side Worship)
Volume for each and a blend for them? or just two vol pots...
Well, ideally the former. If I were making my dream pedal, you could select either via a switch.
Just sayin OD into Muff. The DOD 250 into a Big Muff sounds killer, are both commercially available as kits, and it works really well with th theme.
So much so I literally want to do this now even though i’ve Never made a pedal.
