Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Those Roto flats are quiet because your not beating the sh*t out of them. I've been thinking about getting a set for one of my BEAD basses. Set up for A though. They have supreme tension. I tried this before... I might have a set lying around. The Steve Harris set was awesome on a p/j I had tuned to D standard, drop C for teh sludge.

Great bass playing on this album. Recommended.

Wow that was the fastest craigslist deal ever. Ender suggested I look into an lpb-1 I look them up on craigslist and see that ds-1 and it for $40, email the guy and he texts me back and says he'll do $30 and he just happened to have them in his car and he was driving two streets over from my house. All together maybe 20-30 minutes lol.

$30 for dat? Score! You can use the DS-1 for moddin' practice.

Sounds like a plan, but what's one mod on a DS-1 already got an idea?

There's a $200 peavey roadmaster in town that's blowing fuses owned by a doomy loving guy. If I could get it for $150 I'd be interested but idk at $200 that's a bit steep I think for peavey in need of repair.

I think there's a few mods out there if you search. I remember watching the Penny Pedals bass-voiced DS-1 vid on Bassfuzz.com and thinking that sounded pretty cool, but I don't think the actual mod was discussed.

I couldn't get rid of our 99 Jetta fast enough. At 90k, everything started to go. All within two weeks. I dropped $2k into it and traded it in on my wife's 10' CRV. If you want a truck, old 4cyl Toyota would be a good one to look at.

A welcome anecdote, truly. I DO need a truck, rather badly, however I effectively wasted almost 1600 dollars and have no remaining cash whatsoever. The Jetta is owned by a friend. Gonna have to figure something out before the Dodge bites it.

I don't remember who, but someone recommended "Early Works" by Church of Misery a little while ago. Thanks! Much better than some of the later stuff I was listening to. The riffs are more interesting, the vocals are better and it's a little proggier. Funny enough some of it sounds like Mastodon to me.

Just ordered it on vinyl. 3LP for $30 not bad.

I was just listening to disc two in the car! I was kind of bummed when they got the new singer and started cranking out the same albums over and over.
