Man, yesterday ****ing sucked. Right before leaving work, I e-mailed Clayton at HI-TONE letting him know that my finances seemed to be in order and I was prepared to place an order for an HT200 DR sometime in the next couple of weeks. On my way home as I was driving through an intersection with the right of way, a girl nailed me in the driver's side of my car. Was pretty alarming as I've never been in an accident like that before. Couldn't open my door, had to shimmy across the center console and climb out the passenger side. Went to the ER for x-rays and what not. No broken bones but I think I have a minor concussion from the airbags smacking me in the face.

Pretty bummed because we have plans to start looking for houses at the end of the year, and my car was just a couple of months away from being completely paid off, and it also just passed inspection 2 weeks ago with flying colors at 95k miles. I'm pretty sure it's totaled, because it's going to need new doors, pillar, seat, and the frame is possibly bent.

I guess I shouldn't be too upset, things could have been a lot worse and I was 100% not at fault. But I think this might throw a monkey wrench into obtaining my dream amp. I have a feeling the wife will just let me buy it/help me pay for it because she feels bad, but it might not be the best decision if I gotta buy another car :| So I'm sitting here home from work, mostly taking naps and playing Wii U. I'm refusing to take any of the opiate based painkillers they gave me because it's my wife's birthday and I'm taking her to an awesome whiskey bar tonight. Here's my car... don't think the photo really captured just how jacked up it got.

I got pinned between a couple 18 wheelers a couple years back and had to crawl out a window. That's a really weird moment when your like ok, but everything's all ****ed up around you.

It's cool you got to go to the hospital. They didn't even send me to the hospital, I got cleared on the highway and I got to ride in the nasty back seat of a cop car to get me off the overpass and that was that.

That is my nightmare. I've had a semi tire explode literally right after I past it, it was like a bomb went off...that and after going to diesel school and knowing how beat up some semis really are and they're still pulling things out in public. Semis are nothing to mess with, you won't win against one in a crash.

Yeah, other driver actually had the same car insurance company as I do. Girl was an undergrad college student driving her dad's car. I can have a bad temper in a lot of situations but I'm glad I kept my cool and never yelled at her or anything. She seemed pretty terrified and I felt worse for her than I felt for myself.

Welp, it's official - new place to live! It may not look like much, but we're really Goddamned excited to move in!

Three season porch, partially finished basement, back yard, garage... sometimes it's really the little things that make all the difference.

Also: awesome neighborhood, walking distance to at least a dozen cool bars, quiet, well maintained homes on the block, it's even a quick walk to my favorite mechanic.

I'm not going to get too crazy with noise - most likely no full band rehearsals. I'd rather rent a spot. My last band used to practice 8 blocks away, we got lots of compliments from people living 4-5 houses away. I'd rather not draw attention to myself or piss off the neighbors.

Turns out I'm gonna miss Conan on their Sydney shows after all. The missus and I had to postpone our anniversary trip to Melbourne til September. I didn't realise until after we booked the hotel and flights that the date clashed with Conan's Sydney show. Gutted but poopie happens. Gonna see if I can get one of the supporting bands to snag some Conan merch for me.

EDIT: Just read Laz's story. That's shaging intense, mate. Glad to hear it wasn't worse. Looks like a nasty collision. Assuming you're insured, I don't think you'll have to worry about forking out for a car if its totaled since you're not at fault. Let the insurance companies do all the fighting.
I remember my first car accident. Wasn't nearly as full-on but it shook me up a bit. Got T-boned by some idiot going way too fast for a parking lot. The damage wasn't enough to write the car off and the door was very much still intact (just significantly dented). The repairer gave me two option. A) They fix the door for me; no worries or B) They give me a cheque for the cost of repair. Considering it was an old beatup wagon that was already pushing 350,000 kms on the odometer, I asked him how much the cost of repair would be. Based on their assessment, they said it would be a solid $1,500 to repair the damage.

I took the cheque without a second thought. And funny thing is, literally a month later my car's gearbox got chewed up and left me stranded on the coast so I decided to scrap it. Best car accident ever, right?

The glassed-in porch makes a lot more sense where you live than where I do.

Do it! Those are seriously nice basses, and G&L/BBE is a great company. Our contact there is a super nice guy, always a pleasure to work with and every year at the NAMM show he takes us to a good local restaurant, it's a nice break from the more formal dinners that we have.
