Synth Bass Subforum?

233 votes and 6 pages of discussion. Looks like it may have fallen flat. Hmm .. let me check something real quick here ....
Well, all I can say is that there are any number of GREAT synth forums that welcome bass players with their specific needs. That is to say, forums other than Talk Bass. I guess we'll be relegated to sitting at the kid's table as far as a group here goes.
I suppose we could start one of those silly "clubs" here and have members that put their club numbers in their signatures with links pointing to the club related threads. Something like that. I'm not much of a club person and even less of a badge wearer when it comes to belonging to a club, but I suppose I would like to have like-minded bassists a place to discuss synth-specific needs as bass players go.

I frequent a few synth forums, but the bass guitar/keyboard synth/ bass pedal synth thang is just so danged inter-species-like. I fear no one will want to take us in.
Meh ... no biggie. So we the bastard children, the abominations, we'll just remain as nationless gypsies.
Actually, I'm ok with that. Like I said I'm not much of a ~club~ person anyhow. Most times if you belong to a group or club you must conform to some basic general ideas and I prefer to embrace my own opinions. It exactly why I am an independent voter, and participate in no organized religions. Haahaa!

I'm not ~against~ any of the clubs out there, I just prefer to embrace my own ideas and philosophies and not have my opinions provided for me.Myself, whenever I post something involving synthesizer use as a functioning bass player, I'll probably preface the title of the thread with something like "Synth content" as a flag. To bad Talk Bass doesn't use "tags" to mark threads and posts with a set of tags the poster selects from a menu of available tags. We could just ask for a "synth club" tag to make anything with synth involvement easy to locate in searches.
Oh well, yet another dreamer's notion. It is what it is. I guess synth issues will remain as "effects".
(Thanks for trying twocargar! The subforum would have been a cool and useful thing. It would have moved slowly for a while, but as people got the hang of it I think we'd be surprised at what would eventually pop up in it. Your gallant efforts have been duly noted.)
I will continue to post my synth related stuff in my X-Rig thread. For now, that is my "forum".
I've been browsing the new threads lately, and I've seen a few in the last few days that would be perfect for the Synth Bass Subforum. Bueller?

It sucks there was a cool thread yesterday about the Misa Tri-Bass controller in the EFX Sub Forum and I went looking for it yesterday evening and I found it in Misc. Forum.
It took me a few minutes to find it. I wonder why that thread crossed the line in this sub-forum? I am thinking hard about getting that, controlling a hardware synth and running it through effects. Where would I put a demo video of that at (in a few months after the Tri-Bass is actually released)?

But, it's not up to me. I have to say I'm disappointed by the lack if support of the admins. Frustrated, I simply gave up--stopped bumping the topic, etc.

I would love for a synth bass subforum. I'm just getting into the instrument myself and am looking to make my first hardware synth purchase sometime soon.
The two I've looked at most are the Moog Sub Phatty and the Novation Bass Station 2. I know that they're completely different animals, but if any of you have spent time with both, what do you find the pros and cons to be of each? It seems to me like the Moog has more filter and oscillator control, while the Novation has an arpeggiator and step functions, both of which can be cool in their own right.

For indie rock I would go with the Moog, the Multidrive sounds amazing, and you could do pseudo-arp with the S/H. Plus, they could add an Arp in a firmware update.

The synth bass sub-forum can't be worse than the Mike Watt sub-forum...man I wish that one took off.

A bunch of the Coverband dudes might find that handy, as well as some of the more open-minded among us. Plus there were effects being applied to the synth in the software (Massive).
Look at the iOS thread. They post about recording apps, drum machine apps, etc. Not strictly effects/modeling.
What about the "World's First Drum Machine Pedal". Just because that drum machine is in pedal form doesn't make it an effect pedal.

I definitely see there being enough interest, considering quite a bit of posts in the Effects forum relate to Synth Bass. I think a good idea for us to do now would be to organize what would belong in the Synth bass forum.

I got tired of pushing the idea too. I had a bazillion views in the X-Rig Thread (like over thirty thousand views or something, 444 posts, 23 pages) but I kinda gave up on it. Loads of viewers, little participation.
So I just take my synth bass postings to Muffwigglers. It can get a bit "wild wild west" in that forum, but at least there is synth bass content. It's actually kind of suprising how many synth owners end up being bass players over there.
I don't play synth bass and have no desire to but i think adding the sub forum would be great. Just think what would Getty do.
