TC Sub 'N' Up Octaver! New Octave Pedal!

Think about your playing for a second. Nearly everything you play is inspired by something somebody else played. Nearly every effect that you use and setting you use is inspired by something someone else used or some sound that they used. To me a players sound, tone, style etc is simply a synthesis of all of their influences. With the toneprints you only get the artists preset if you set all of the controls to 12:00 from there everything is customized in response to the controls taper. Another thing about the toneprint thing is say for example you like Janek Gwizdalas Compression sound, Duff Mc Kagens Chorus sound, and Tony Greys delay sound, you can mix them together and have something unique to you. Just the same way you blend your influences to make your style.

Here. Meh.

I'll probably keep it, but I'm not wowed. My first impressions are I'm underwhelmed. The organ Tone Print is fun; not sure I'll find s use for it. Poly mode is okay. Maybe I'll dial it in and love it. Classic seems barely usable.

I like it. I wanted something that would sound glitchy and synthy. Here's a quick mess around I did trying for that with a Mooer FOG in front of it. Not much of substance played, just trying to make it glitch out etc.

Sub 'n' Up settings:
0% Dry / 100% Octave up / 0% Octave Down / 100% Sub

1. Classic
2. Stock Organ Tone Print
3. Poly

I got mine today and I really like it. Heaps of different tones I can use for gigs.
I think I'll use the poly setting the most with the octave up being dominant, bit of sub 1, and some dry signal, no sub 2.
Sounds very similar to the sound of a POG.
I can get Meatbox sounds with the classic mode, sub 2 turned up.
I'm replacing the Meatbox on my pedalboard with the Sub 'n' Up because I can see myself using this pedal a lot.
The default tone print with the organ sound is fun and I have a song in my band where it will sound perfect for.
Gonna have a lot of fun using the Sub 'n' Up!

How close is it to the Meatbox sound? I've been looking for an octaver, and I'm impressed with the meatbox, but it seems to lack flexibility. If I could get close to the sound with the Sub N Up, that would be pretty cool.

The meatbox sounds more distorted which gives it it's character.
You can get wall shaking lows with the Sub 2 control on the Sub n Up but it's on the clean side.
The Meatbox does it's thing well but only that. The Sub n Up can do the wall shaking among it's many sounds but just doesn't have that bit of distortion in it that the meatbox has.

It's an OC-2. The OC-2 is staying on my board because it does the best electronic synthy sound.

I feel like the Sub n Up was never trying to do an OC-2 in the first place. It does good clean classic octaves as well as POG-like octaves in poly mode whereas the OC-2 can be glitchy and slighty synthy which makes it unique.

I use the Sub n Up mostly for the octave up capability and the poly mode. I use them both for different sounds :)
