TC Sub 'N' Up Octaver! New Octave Pedal!

Without laying hands/ears on the subnup, I will say this: it offers much more flexibility than the tender. I plan to keep both on my board, with the tender doing octave up stuff, and the TC doing everything else. Sweetwater isn't shipping my TC until my Sheehan deluxe arrives. That was a special order, so it might take a while.
Surprisingly, this is my favorite pedal purchase in some time! Super fun with loads of possibilities...the least of them being as a straight one-octave down pedal, oddly. It's actually my least favorite octaver I've played. If you dig either the synthy OC-2 or the organic Octamizer, this is NOT the pedal for you. I haven't been able to dial in a sound I like that much to be able to replace even my MXR BOD.
BUT, on my big board the Subnup has opened up the sonic possibilities like no other pedal I've put on there. My favorite uses so far are the Broken Tron or Cembalo toneprints to get rad sounding organ and then the classic mode with just the Up octave on for lo-fi guitar-like sounds. It's wicked going through a Rat or fuzz and a delay on either of those settings.
As an organ-like sound, the toneprints are waaaay better than the EHX C9 I had.

I've tried it out and i didn't like it at all. It was the octave down that sounded so boring. And in vintage mode i felt the tracking being totally unusable, and not sounding any more fun either.

I worked the Sub 'n' Up into rehearsal yesterday, and it earned a place on my board. Still not finding use as an octave down, but as an octave up to cop an 8/10-string effect, it works nicely. Keeper.
Anyone try one of these, using just the octave up with a fretless bass? Would it track slides and vibrato and stuff well? Would it sound like an fretless guitar?
Just ordered one (the last at a significant discount) after seeing and hearing many reviews. The goal for me is a passable 10-string sound. The sub octaves might not blend with our quick 'n dirty outlaw country sound but I may have to sneak them in like a thief in the night.
The trick to sneaking the sub octave in is to set the sub octave 1 knob at 9 o'clock. My go to leadish sound with it is to have it in poly mode dry signal at noon, octave up at 3 o'clock, and sub octave 1 at 9 o'clock. That will also work well with the "Smooth Bass" toneprint. I think the Classic mode sounds a little thin and metallic almost like an old ARP synth imagine the intro to "Birdland" on an AM radio. For slapping or more FUnk type sounds I'll take the octave up out and turn the Sub 1 knob up to about 3 o'clock.

I do have the Subnup on my board right now and our band does play some outlaw country. Then again, I grew up playing funk. When we do a cover and the bass player on the song is using a 5 string bass, I use the Sub on those covers since all I have are 4 string basses. I have only used it for octive down and I use a POG for octive up. Both work great.
Bumping this thread for a question: I just took a Pitch Fork off my very small board because it was sucking the natural low end out of my signal chain in a big way (ripped out an EBS comp for the same reason). Does the Sub n Up take out your low end when disengaged? Need an 8vu pedal that doesn't annihilate my tone.
No it doesn't. I just started using the Cody Wright print (unrelated just an update). The tc pedals are pretty much universally true bypass.

Funny that this thread got bumped - I brought the SubnUp on a gig last weekend and... well, it's not leaving my board. Lots of potential to explore. Using the octave up behind fuzz is magical.

Got this pedal to try from local distributor. It has the best octave up tracking ever. But regarding lower octave sounds, I have one question. I really like Smooth(bass) tone print from TC but in any of the available templates in editor I couldn't find sound which is similar to the sound of that toneprint. All the time there is more or less roomy decay on Sub and Sub2 sound which doesn't end immediate with Note off. I am just wondering how they made that tone print? i tried messing with the input eq, output eq, different templates but no luck. I would be very happy if I could have Smooth tone print as a template to mess with.

After having one of the first ones shipped from Prymaxe and selling it, I had been mulling over adding one of these back to my board but I held off when I found what MIGHT be a suitable substitute with my H9s. The mini will probably push me back over the edge, I think.
