The argument for (or) against mixing cabs - example: 115 & 410

Mixed cabs - Here is what Ampeg says on their web site about the SVT-15E speaker cab: "Team it up with the SVT-CL head and an SVT-410HE, for top-end, and you’re guaranteed to get the dance floor moving". and, about the SVT-410HE cabinet: " The Ampeg SVT-410HE is also the ideal enclosure for the player who wants to add extended upper register clarity to a system that already features ample low frequency performance. Just ask George Clinton—he uses an SVT-410E to round out the top-end of his killer, all-SVT stage setup"......... Sooooo... are Ampeg's comments legit or are they just trying to sell cabinets (or maybe both?)
I've tried that combination before and always unplugged the 115 and just went with the 410he because I didn't like both together. However, it is possible to make a 410/115 cab rig that suffers from minimal phasing problems, and many companies do take mixing cabs into consideration in their separate designs. Plus if people likes that combination, there's nothing in it for a company to talk people out of it. So I'd say a little of both.

My little Carvin combo has mixed drivers in the cabinet, and the official extension cabinet that Carvin sells for it is yet another sized driver. I assume the engineers who put that together knew what they were doing.

Holy smokes! I jumped the the back page to ask a legitimate question (on topic even. Maybe) and you fellas have boiled down to fighting about bugs and weather? Wow! I think I'll wait a few days and ask in a different thread for my own safety!

Now you guys go sit in the penalty box and feel shame. Do not come out until you have consumed a 1/2 gal jug of Wild Turkey or equivelant!

Im just having fun and teasin you fellas. Never mind me. As you were. Smoke if you got em. Etc.

Just like the bumblebee statement. Believe whatever you choose, based on whatever you choose, but I'd stay away from real estate in Key West ........

Better check the latest research. There has been no global temperature increase in 15 years and Antarctic ice has increased considerably.
I hope even this is not over the line, but I wont go into the politics of the issue.
The climate does and has changed over time. Earth has been everything from a burning molten blob to a ball of ice.
True, but not at the rate it's been changing over the last 20 years. When I was a kid, 100 degree days in my area of Florida in summer were rare. Today they're commonplace. And for two winters in a row, my city didn't have a single freezing day, and we always get a few. I don't say this as a political statement, either. To me it's got zip to do with politics. I will agree with you that it's hard to prove 100%, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.

What if we leave the world a better place for nothing?

Here's some empirical & irrefutable facts:

1. Billy Sheehan can outplay all of us.

2. Like many from his era he mixes 4x10 with 1x15, however he puts the 15" on top and puts mostly highs into it with the 4x10 on bottom fed mostly lows.

3. Apologies if Billy has already been cited, I couldn't be arsed to read the whole thread because I've learned that more practicing bass and less talking bass will make you sound better than any gear, or combination of gear, on the planet.

4. Jaco only needed one cab* (and one bass).

* Not 100% sure on this point.
