Ahh, the Tandy Company out of Fort Worth, Tejas. The stereo store I managed before becoming an educator guy was across the street from our place. It was like fighting with someone carrying a ballpoint pen to defend themselves. Except when someone would come in looking for some wacky part like a 45 RPM adaptor we knew we didn't carry. Then, we'd tell them to walk across the street and they'd most likely find it. Admittedly, some of their stuff was decent, though their speakers were all furniture with cheap drivers inside.

Just met a guitar player who works where I do. He said he would like to get together and "jam" sometime, so things are looking like a possible session could form.

Yes, the D4 is my current plan. This guy has a number of videos posted on Instagram (which I had to have my wife look up for me
) on guitar and mandolin. I won't see him again until early January, so I'll try to talk with him then and see if we can arrange for a meet up.
As you might've guessed (or cared to guess) winter vacation has begun for me and I wanted to share some pics of our 'lil show on Tuesday. Great fun as always and I couldn't have been happier with my tone. Did the exact same gig two years ago with the Rumble 100 and was buried in the mix. Yep, the setup was pert-near the same with side-fill monitors and all.
While I totally agree with the consensus that it's purely subjective if you like more midrange then you'll like the Ampeg better. If you tend to like that traditional, full bass and scooped mids sound, you'll choose the Fender. I also agree, either one played by someone who has a decent ear and a little rhythm can coax wonderful tones out.

RS was such a crap shoot, and quality varied over time for different types of products. Wire might be good but soldering irons crap, with positions swapped 5 years later.
