Our JugBand had a bit if a reunion last Friday using the ‘stack’ I showed last week. Founding member and guitarist moved back to the States March of ‘20. We never found a guitarist amid the CoVid. But he came to visit, so all of us vaxxed members played the old songs as spouses cheered. Great fun for an hour or so, then potlucked dinner. (The only non-vaxxed member ended up being very sick with that poopie anyway.)
Heading out on a 68 day Airstream Caravan trip on Sunday. There could be other players in the group of 12 trailers heading down the Baja peninsula, ferry from La Paz to Mazatlán then back North to Arizona with a 3 day side trip on the Copper Canyon train. So, since the only BASS COMBO I currently have to take is my Vox AmPlug, I will be taking my Michael Kelly ABG to stay in practice and ‘maybe’ be heard, sin amplificador, if there are others to play with. I will have my trusty Epi 6-str acoustic as well.
Interesting auto-correct here, I have never used ‘poopie’ in my life….

Caca or mierta would work...prolly. I had a MK A/EBG 5er for awhile. B string was weak; its thick body + my thick body didn't work. Sold it. The other 4 sounded very UB-y.
Yes, that is what I love about it. Very nice on Van Morrison songs trying to emulate our Mendocino neighbor David Hayes.
I bought it when I was playing in a big band. Got the 5er figuring I could always use the B as an extra long thumb rest. Always amplified. People across the room said it sounded great. I was always too close in front of the amp to really tell.

When I tried a relic'd Ibanez ABG 200 (that I didn't know was a fiver), I played it through the smallest Blackstar combo in the shop. Well, two! They plugged me into the smallest, then the next smallest Blackstar combo. No walls shook.
I still have my Gibson Les Paul 5er if I have a real need for a note below E, and my Ibanez semi-hollow does fine for(sorta)UB tones.

Well, waddaya know? Turns out that local 655("Miami"-now in Ft. Lauderdale)covers this area. I was a member 'til 1985 when I went trailer truckin'. Prolly shoulda resigned in good standing. I didn't really expect to be back in the biz.

I have seen your posts and they really take me back. When going to college at Western State in Gunnison, we used to go there a lot in the winter to warm up. Great scenery and wonderful vibe back in ‘73-77. We won’t be heading that far north this trip. Will let you know the next time we do.

Extra small combo on band duty! We had music writing night, and the Fender Rumble 15, nicknamed "Humble Rumble", made itself useful. It is ideal for this kind of work: demoing and discussing bass lines. Good sound, good vibes.
The beer and potato chips were great too.
Saturday practice. Can't pick a favorite Thunderbird, but I have a favorite practice combo!
Got the Covid. I have 3 shots and feeling not great, but okay. Good times.
