Getting more comfortable with these La Bella LTFs as they begin to break in. Or maybe I'm getting used to them. And totally get rounds. Flats give me a lot of room to be sloppy with technique.
Birds of a feather? Thunderbirds maybe? Dunno, it's one bass style I've not yet picked up. Hofner violin style is another. I guess I still have room in the office for more...
Thanks! Yep, it was the looks that drew me in, and the reports of it sounding as much like a big upright as a bass guitar can. I can say it sounds more doghouse than any of my other basses, but still not going to fool many into thinking that it's actually a double.
I've noticed that it works best if I start to think of what I imagine an upright bass playing, then emulate that. I'm digging the ability to slap the strings down on the fretboard the way rockabilly players do. I'm just using the ends of my fingers to do it, but it sounds authentic!
My GK continues to delight sonically. It can handle the Mouse, my passive basses (shorty P-bass, Jazz, TUNE P/J, Warwick Corvette $$), and my active basses (ESP Ltd 5 string, Carvin LB70, Schecter Riot 8) with only a quick bop of the input switch. The big challenge is that I'm having trouble playing all the basses often enough to justify them in my mind right now. Life and pesky work keep getting in the way.
Whew. Still need to find just the right strap for the new bass. Looking for suggestions...

Boy, do I hear you! I realize that it the way it is for everyone, but wouldn’t it be great to worry more about which bass to play that day instead of worrying about the grind?

Two years and a little over two months to go, but with everything being thrown at us in public education right now, I hope I make it! Now this stupid virus which may begin affecting our schedule any day now.
