The Combo Club

We got notice today that the college is shut down. We will be attempting online delivery for the rest of the content for the term. The Spring term will likely be cancelled too. Not sure what will happen after that. Our provincial government cut funding significantly for post-secondary. I could lose my job. I'm having quite the year! Time will tell.

Good morning, Doc. Well, two of the violin bass lovers here in the CC will have plenty of time to hone their craft.

As far as employment, we’ll all cross our fingers for ya. While I might update my resume just in case (you’ll have the time now), I wouldn’t give up the hope that this will move on and we’ll be getting back to work after this break. You’re kids are still gonna need your classes.

I’m not sugarcoating this disaster, but I plan on keeping a positive attitude towards the future. Join me. The only thing I’m not going is looking at my retirement fund numbers! :nailbiting:

Black hole exploration is an emerging tech! They found an old Peavey at the core of a supermassive black hole ...

Yes, and it was still functional!

My sources are telling us the military is on the short list as options are being looked at. A nationwide two-week quarantine is on the table. I’m thinking a run on milk, bread, and cute combo bass amps.

In our little town, we have priests, snd some DOCTORS, telling people it is a hoax (by ‘J&J, Merk, whoever) to sell drugs and face masks?!?! All while the Mex Fed gov is shutting down the schools, etc and many gringo friends head back NoB to where they have health insurance if they need it.
We Went to our last night out Saturday to hear friends play, only 15 of us in the audience, 5 from our band to look for a replacement guitarist. Guess I will have plenty if practice time now.
Stay healthy and safe, you all.

You too JPDsma. There'll be time to play after we get through all this mess. If there was ever a time for this world to pull together, this is it. Stop by if you find yourself in self-quarantine. We still take anyone as long as they own at least one bass combo!

So, my first day away from school and what did I mostly do? Wait for it...school. Our 4/5 wing of the building is working on setting up online learning to keep the 'lil nippers' brains functioning while we're gone. I asked parents and students to join us on Facebook and we're getting a decent response for the first day. Our governor is talking no school until April 10th. Believe me, the parents are gonna go crazy! :bawl:

And yes, there will be bass-playing at some point. :bassist:

A couple hours of parents schooling their own children might be enough for them to enthusiastically vote for teacher pay raises. BIG teacher pay raises.

Bless you, lady! Just in: our governor says we won't be making up the days lost up through April 12th. That's why this online service is going to be important if we can keep it up. There's no re-dos.

Oh, if only! We've got no kids and are big-time in favor of improving teacher pay. Less to the administrators please, and more to the folks doing the direct contact work.

Our youth are the future of everything, and who we have in front of them matters more than any other profession I can think of. Honestly, professional athletes getting paid millions? :cautious:

Sorry. :blackeye: Feeling ranty today. I'll tone it down...

Preach Rod! But might I include our hard-working para educators who take everything we throw at the kids and make it understandable for our resource kids.

And as for admin, the amount of pressure on them daily whether it’s naughty students, grumpy parents, or frustrated teachers, I’ll take my meager-in-comparison salary any day.

Much appreciated, RR!

Para-educators too! As far as admin, I suppose it's my blue-collar roots showing there. Sorry to anyone I offended.

While we're at it, how about equitable pay for artists.

Here here. So how’s the street player or the local band trying to pay for equipment as they play on weekends gonna make ends meet in these weeks ahead? For every one of you here in the club I offer you my best wishes. Hang in there and hope this wraps up as quickly as it came in.

For those of you, like me, who spends most of their time in the safety of home, think of your gigging brothers and sisters out there while you’re jamming away.
