‘Lizard, you’ve got enough big-speaker intimidation to make me wanna grab ear plugs before you switch that beast on! (Still not a legal combo though, but I’m saluting you just the same!)
Good evening, champions of the Combo Amp for Bass! Just finishing up a couple of things before heading to Dreamland, but I wanted to stop and say hello. I spent the day, 8:00-5:15, out at school, running out the kids' materials we packed in trash bags a week or two ago. It was emotional as we haven't seen them since mid-march, but the tears came mostly from their moms. I couldn't figure out though if it was because they're elementary child's career was officially over or they realized there were still two more weeks of them homeschooling! Regardless, it was great to see them. I got the envious job of passing out the free puberty-talks gift that they would've received had we done the talks, but a sample of Old Spice or Secret was hilarious as i announced it was their going-away gift.
Finished cleaning up my room for summer (see pic below) and prepping for curriculum work in June. Still, nine days of virtual school left though, and we're planning on a grade-wide party on the 21st, complete with high-tech party favors, a Last Testaments doc to give advice to the fourth graders with, and probably a Kahoot! game. Yeah, we sure know how to throw a wild shindig!
Finally, on the music front, my new bass strings (see other pict below) dropped in on Saturday. The Jazz is getting a much-anticipated revision and I'm looking forward to it. Then it's finally time to get serious with my Presonus interface and software. I need to hear the Stage 800 on a recording.
Oh yeah, my updated Mohawk to finish out the term (yep, have fun with it, 'Dog). Picked up some rave reviews today, but I think it's because I was holding their school bags as hostage 'til I heard something nice. As I told one parent, it's my middle finger to the virus, but the truth is, I just like it.

And I’d say that except for Norwegian Black Metal, your Markbass Combo will make for a great monitor. Go for it!

I hear ya, lady. I just finished doing tone chasing on my Stage 800 after yet another update, albeit a quick one. I decided to take the Orangey Colour and add some comp in the pre-fx and Russian Fuzz in the post. Yikes! This thing was breathing at idle like it was ready to give birth!
I was digging the in between sounds more than during playing. A little too digital-sounding, especially at the tail of the note, but in a low-fi garage band jam I think it’d be just fine.

Well, it goes into my combo amp. Or it would, except when it's on it's a mute. And in fact the first amp to sample the tuned bass is the BA108v2 Plus. It's the Vox VXT-1 strobe pedal tuner. Highly readable, did not need to RTFM to figure out how to tune in strobe function. Will RTFM to learn how to set it to (B) E A D G (C). That's two Vox accessories for me now, counting the coily cable. The pedalboard is an Outlaw Nomad that's battery powered.
Just checking, does "RTFM" mean "Read The Fine Manual"? I am close, right?

When I did, I found the offset setting for bass!

For what it's worth, the Vox tuner and my TC Electronic Unitune headstock tuner agree.
That's a relief. I'd hate to think of a lack of tuner harmony in your household!

M5, long time no hear! The 110 looks to be an excellent choice for practice and maybe friendly jams. Boy, I wish I lived next to your porch. Cool things happen there!
Hey C7! Wow, it must have been “Bring your Pedalboard to Work Day” or something. And might I add that they both look very professional. I myself am just beginning to look at building a small board with 4-5 pedals max.
Finally, are my eyes just tired or do you both own the same pedal tuner; one from Korg and the other Vox? Same company, but different models perhaps?
Yes, mine is the Korg pitchblack custom in blue. It’s pretty good, but I’m used to a strobe tuner. So I just ordered a sonic research st-300. I had one before the korg and it was awesome. For a tuner I mean haha

Uncertain of the pedigree of the Vox beyond it being a Vox. It is a strobe tuner with two non-strobe options. The TC Unitune has a strobe mode as well. It works very well. I've a personal distaste for playing with a widget clamped on my bass, and with a free space on the pedalboard ....
