Well, now that you mention it ....
This is a portrait of me a couple of years ago when I'm unceremoniously dropped into rehab two days after bilateral knee replacements. As it's a given that at this point I require a wheelchair for the most mundane of tasks, my temporary residence is in the company of people even more elderly than I ....
The television channel in the rehab unit is selected by the therapist on duty. Weekdays it's some happy fluff. Actually it's all happy fluff. But one of them is an infomercial for a complete Laugh-In collection.

Whereupon ....
In my capacity as a young reporter, I am an invited guest in the home of Jo Anne Worley. She wishes to speak to me about one of her charitable endeavours, which is to say she wishes to see some press. I'm okay with that, because as jobs go it's not really one of the bad ones ... As I walk in and am mid-gesture introducing myself, she shoves a biscuit in my mouth before I can say a word
Yeah I know Laugh-In
Wonderful story, M! My faith in those of us who were around when Laugh-In was on NBC, not TV Land. I think it was Monday nights when my family sat around the tube laughing our heads off. My dad's favorite laugh was during Rowan and Martin's news broadcast when they reported the Russians were rolling out their latest tank and they mentioned it was an event where Miss USSR was photographed with the mechanical best. So the gag line was something like, "Here's Miss USSR pictured here with the new Soviet tank. The tank, on the left, is their latest model..." I'm paraphrasing, but I'm telling ya, my pop was still laughing two shows later that night.
