We do mostly original stuff we've come up with over the years. Black Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Rush, Zep are all major influences and we'll cover some of their stuff too. I definitely remember and adored headbangers ball!! First time I got to see Maiden was 82 - they were touring in support of Number of the Beast - amazing show! Steve Harris one of my top 5 favs! We noodle around with the stuff, but you really need that triple guitar attack to do it justice. ;)

I grew up in Memphis so I got to hear some blues as a youngster.

That must have been awesome to see Maiden on that tour. I got into them a few years after that. It was really cool that they didn't fire Janek (sp?) when Adrian came back. One of the reasons Steve has always been a favorite was how he was as a band member.

I've been trying to get a Black Crowes cover band going and am kind of surprised at my lack of success. The Crowes are my favorite band with Johnny Colt being my other tied-for-first bass hero. They're a little older than us and were from Atlanta which was a short drive from and a bigger version of Memphis.

When I was a teenager, I would babysit for family friends. I would get the kids fed and put to bed and then sit down to watch HB. The parents would invariably show up in the middle of the Trooper. Luckily, they babysat for me when I was a kid so they got me. They had no problem waiting until the video was over to take me home.
I really wanted the rocker lifestyle, but didn't drink at the time and never felt comfortable enough to wear spandex and cowboy boots in public. :laugh:

SO hard to find a singer who can come close to the soulful Chris Robinson! I've had so many local bands here I grew up loving... Atlanta Rhythm Section, Mothers Finest (played my jr/sr prom), Black Crowes, Collective Soul, Allman Bros, Drivin N Cryin, GA Satellites, REM... And anyone remember Jackyl?? Red neck Metal party music! Blessed to have seen them all several times!

I haven’t looked carefully into it so this is just my recollection:
There was an expression in my young years, “In like Flynn.” invoking the wildly good life as lived by Errol Flynn. He was a notorious partier. Later, the James Coburn movie played on that expression in its title, “In like Flint,” Flint being the lead character’s name. In 1967 most moviegoers in the U.S. still were familiar with the original expression and got the pun.

Errol Flynn's old estate in the Hollywood Hills was still in litigation in the early 80s. Private property, keep out. Which in turn ensured that party was still going on, in a fashion, as people from all walks of life (illegally) explored the property. The way in and out would be well known to any Musician's Institute student, a friend told me. The nighttime view of Los Angeles from what remains of the swimming pool is held to be stunning. :thumbsup:

My previous band had been on and off for about 20 years. Surprising that we never played any better than we did. :rolleyes:

Spandex and cowboy boots is an acquired taste. I understand it's very freeing once achieved.

I’m willing to do a Black Crowes reimagined type thing. I’m not tied to things sounding like the recording.
I figure I’ll just keep running the ad.
I only need a few people.

Oh, yeah. Mother's Finest was incredible. Did you ever see Rock Mountain play?
