I find the best deals when I let them fall into my lap. If I come across something and too good to pass up I'll grab it. If time allows, patience is the best way to save.
Oooooooo!Nice. I wish you luck my friend. I’m actually eyeing a used Ampeg b-100r at my local shop. It needs a little work, but if they price it right, it’s mine.
It seems you are the smarter of the two of us...I find the best deals when I let them fall into my lap. If I come across something and too good to pass up I'll grab it. If time allows, patience is the best way to save.
When it comes to basses, you have a type.Howdy, Comboite Pardners!
Welcome once again to my patented double post/band update:
The audition went okay, but we’re going to keep looking.
All eyes are now on our next full band practice with our lead vocalist which will be January 2nd or 3rd.
Here’s the shape practice has taken:

I started learning 4 of the 8 that I will need to learn for next practice to bring us up to 20 songs.
Two of the songs:
Going Under-Evanescence and
Brass in Pocket-the Pretenders
now make the 5 string a necessity.
I think the bass player for Evanescence recorded that song with a 4 string tuned BEAD.
Brass in Pocket was a surprise though. It seems that the E was down tuned to a D. I was not expecting that!
Dyer Maker is pretty “easy” for Zeppelin. Immigrant Song will take some time.
I ran both basses through the Cube using an ABY box before the Ampeg Classic preamp.

I DID run in to the living room to play Going Under through a BA115 to hear it cranked. It sounded good. It shook things.
It made me more interested in the Celestion though.
I’m surprised to say that I may also consider a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder for the P5...though that’s MUCH more iffy than the speaker upgrade.
That’s it for now.
Glad to see someone playing out these days!
I just know what I like! When it comes to basses, you have a type.

Nothing wrong with that! I tend to like a lot of variety. I don't have two basses of the same color. And I still don't have a green one yet!I just know what I like!![]()
That makes sense.Nothing wrong with that! I tend to like a lot of variety. I don't have two basses of the same color. And I still don't have a green one yet!
Glad to hear the band is working pretty well so far.

I was going to guess underwearThat makes sense.
I’m the person that finds what they like at a restaurant and then ALWAYS gets that.
So far so good with the band.
I’m putting in the work. Whether or not anything comes of it, it’s making me a better bass player and that’s all I care about.
Thanks to my wife now something else is afoot that might “ease the load” as they say:
