Try never. We used to at one venue, but that was mostly to pump the sound into the separate "smoker's bar". I invested in all the[stuff](amp mics, mixer, bass amp mic, cables)which now sits in a duffel bag. Our 'crowd' is mostly 55+ and they wanna be able to talk to each other. Why, I have no idea, but they do.
BTW, the guitarist uses a 15W amp and the drummer is often too quiet.
That’s hilarious, GP. Gee, we even ran my bass through the school’s PA last year when playing up on stage. That allowed me to get away with the R100.
How about those videos I watched where you guys were out on a large cement area and you were spread out a bit? You’d have to have something just so your drummer could hear ya. Small clubs and restaurants I could see, but outdoors too?
That was the Sunday afternoon open mic/jam at the local H-D dealer(not my regular(?)band). I had the R200c for that gig. Still no instruments through the PA.
The other videos which had a sax man with us was our regular bunch through a provided PA-w/monitors. Those are the videos when I used the Kustom 150 or the Kasino playing my Epi EB-3. The K150 and EB-3 are gone.
Playing a hall/gymnatorium, I'd prolly use the R200c. The hall we're in for NYE is pretty big. I used the 200 b4. Might use the 100. I gots to think about it.
EDIT: for the NYE(and the NYEE)gig we'll be guitar, drums, me, and a different sax man. Lotta "dinner music", light jazz, classic rock, and ?. And the Finnish National Anthem.

Yeah, I remember the Epi bass vividly. You guys cooked, no arguing that. I think it proves that a solidly-built, good sounding combo with decent power can get you through most anything needed.
I think, for me, if I was forced to have only one combo amp for everything it’s have to be my Stage 800 for basically the same reasons as you. It sounds fine even at practice level. Don’t tell my 100 or PJB though, okay? I hate hurt feelings.
That was from just b4 I got the 200c. I looked at the 500c, but I prefer the 15" and the lighter weight/lower price. The 200-or 100 and 200-is all I'll ever need anywhere we might play in the future. 'Course I still would like to get the Kasino extension cab but I need it about like I need more taxes.

I feel the same about the GK MBP212 powered cab to pair with my MB212-ii combo. Will I ever NEED 1,000 watts? No. Would I LIKE 1,000 watts....heh, f#@$ yeah!
As I mentioned, my Rumble 15 is the only amp I've ever owned. I have gigged with it a fair amount, and never turned it above 5. I guess that tells you something about the venues and crowds we play.
Lying in bed now that the presents from Santa are wrapped for the 5 year old. I worked hard today to cook him a nice Christmas dinner. He didn't like any of it and said the Turkey tasted "like beige". I have to admit it was a bit dry.
I haven't bought a new bass in over two years, but I indulged in a lot of other bass related stuff this year. So I'm only getting a wah pedal from Santa. I'm going to have some fun with it, and some beer, once the son has headed over to mom's.

Amen to that. Listening to some great tunes by JD McPherson and his band made me want to play with others even more. Maybe I can talk my wife into pulling out her violin over the weekend?Me too, whether they are micro or not. I just want a gig!
I've gigged a number of times with my MB150E-112. It can handle most drummers, and coupled with a 410 extension cab, I used it with a pretty aggressive drummer. For only 150 watts, it's pretty impressive.

In no attempt to take a stab at any of the science-y stuff, I know the PJB BG-400 with no extension will fill a lot of gigs. And in the understanding it's something of a niche product, not everybody's cuppa. There's no way four 5 inch speakers can be that loud, and yet ...

Merry Christmas to you, good doctor! First of all, your turkey looks delicious. Second, ya gotta marvel at a five-year-old who can describe in words what he's tasting. Using a word like beige? Brilliant!
As for bass gifts, I hear ya. I finished up my studio with a Furman power strip and an Ampeg SCR-DI pedal to be my default preamp going into the interface. Otherwise, I asked for goodwill towards all men so we'll see how that all turns out.
