THAT P fat pole is AMAZING!!
It took this amp to show me that!!
Incredible tone from this combo in all settings so far- P tone is Classic- really brings out everything that makes a P- thunderous low end coupled with a mid-punchy, and can get crunchy high end!!
this took every setting- and hit it out of the park!
I really need to get a nice P bass. Like a great dish of Breyer’s Natural Vanilla Bean ice cream- it’s simple, but PERFECT. (You don’t know how good vanilla ice cream is if you haven’t had this!)
Not to be outdone, the Fat Pole Jazz in the bridge did not disappoint! Roll the treble off a bit, dig in with a pick- OMG- shimmery chorus, gnarly envelope filter. With a touch of hair from the SGT circuit, I defer to @Lowbrow great setting of 9;00! I’ve noticed something cool about the SGT- it does the whole “Sag” thing- sort of a note “bloom” effect of softening the attack a bit. Does not rob high end, just blunts it a bit-I’m not sure if that is clear- it’s hard to describe without sounding like talking about a cheeky Malbec with notes of toasted cherry in the nose or something
I still have to check out the Sidewinder in the Epi EB-3, and the DiMarzio Model One in my 68 Telecaster Bass. Can’t say enough so far- I also need to plug in the extension cab!![]()
Tele, you're my final comment for this evening. First of all, great shots of your gear. It's always a fun trip to the Great Southwest whenever you post something. Second, I bet it felt really good to let the Rocket Bass off the leash. What did ya think? How was the volume? Did the mids cut through at that high volume? I'm guessing so, but I'd like to know your thoughts.
Third, I enjoyed how you explained the SGT circuit. I agree with you but must admit I've gone one step beyond Lb and that's to hike the SGT knob as high as up to noon and it gets even better. You'll swear there's an SVT sitting in your house with your P pickup on the Jag. Maybe that's a stretch, but it totally blows away the Scrambler, IMHO.
Lastly, I love your enthusiasm for your rig. It's always nice when a musician enjoys what they're playing. It's true, when you like what you're hearing you play better as a result. At least that's the excuse I give when I'm stinking up the place...
