The Ibanez Club (Part 6)

I'd like to hop on this train!
Picked up a Sr 500 and most definitely not looking back. Such a fun and perfectly adequate sounding beginner bass,(I'm semi new to playing bass, had a Dean about a year ago) now I'm nips deep in playing and very passionate about playing. Great to see such beautiful basses and wicked knowledge about this great brand View attachment 3251173
2018? Jatoba fretboard?

That is not simply a beginner bass! It can last you for years! I have two in the 500 series and have no need for any others - they’re that good.

Good to know!
Although having played some other basses recently with a smaller radius neck I feel that may be the direction I head in the future, but most definitely will be keeping the 500 as it does feel quite nice compared to some of the more expensive instruments.
I should say if I get another 4 string I will find a smaller radius but if I decide to go with a 5 string I may go with a 505 or just bite the bullet and go with a btb 1805

Happy Bassmas!

Wondering if anyone has heard anything about new Ibanez basses for 2019??
Words just got in...

There might be a new BTB20TH5. No pic just yet.
I posted the leaked info above in September 2018 and now the pic is up on their website:

Of course, there are some other new models for 2019 on their website.

I actually like the blue, but they should've just stained the unstained parts too... maybe use black with an ebony fretboard...
But that's just looks... I have not tried a BTB in a while, as the voicing of the first one I tried was so dark and unusable, it put me off of the entire series :(

Anyone following this thread who's into the really vintage Ibbies? Think 70's.
I have a 70's Ibby Jazz Bass on it's way to my collection, that is black. Not only is the body black, but the headstock as well, and it -does- have a perfect, white Ibanez logo on it, so it is probably not a respray. I cannot for the life of me find a photo of one in any catalog, not even in google.
It is missing the pickguard, the trussrod cover, and the pickup covers, but it comes in it's original case. The thumbrest was originally below the strings, as evidenced by the two screwholes for it, and the trussrod nut is at the headstock, so it should be early 70's I would think. I would like to see a pic of one of these, mostly to know what colour the original pickguard was, as I'd like to restore it to it's original glory (no idea where I'll get a trussrod cover yet tho').
Any and all help would be appreciated! Have a great weekend folks!

Nope, looks like the pre-silver series JB copies, except it has a rosewood fretboard with white/pearl block inlays, and both the body and headstock are black.
It clearly had the chrome PU covers too, evidenced by the screwholes.
Here's some pics from the ad:
