Heck, I'm still hoping he gets a better U.S. distributor.(My understanding is he's going with the same folks who handle his import line...but by no means do I have the full inside skinny.) These strings - at least the six-string set with the .135 'B' - are either feast or famine in my neck of the woods. I tend to stock up when they're in, but there have been a couple of times in the past year where I've had to resort to using other brands.

So tell us, oh great sage and seer, or is it still a trade secret?
I'm very glad to see that the thread is opening to the 4th part
when I've started it I would never immagine to see that it will go this far..
keep on posting your beautiful basses and all the great info's that you've been doing so far!

It is official, it was announced in some of the trade mags -you can spill the beans.I'll wait for the official word to come down from on high, but this happened during Summer NAMM, and I was hanging around with Michael at lot down in Nashville. I will say that it is a move that makes a lot of sense for all involved (though I'm sure Michael would have preferred for things to go better for the Canadian distributor).
Tom.
+1That looks like an avadore body, is that correct?
Of the five I currently own and the two that I sold or traded, my avadore bodied 535 is the one with the perfect tone. Do you find this is the case for you as well?
+1
I find my 24 fret 535 with redwood on avodire [or avadore] and wenge/wenge neck/fingerboard has a perfect tone! The avadore on my bass looks very much like mahogany but weighs much less.

that make me dread this thread.
Gorgeous, man.
And you know, I know Michael is against 'shiny stuff' on his basses, but my Marilyn has developed a shiny spot where my finger touches the top when I slap, and this has led me to think two things:
1) His finish could be buffed out
2) Maybe he could put a slightly thicker coat on the top only, and buff it out, that way you'd have 'shiny stuff' where it shows when you're playing, and it wouldn't affect the sound too much.
Just a thought. And what is BEM?
Cheers,
Cameron

It's not so much he's against shiny finishes as much as he is against thick finishes, and the best way to get a nice deep gloss finish is to make it kinda' thick....I know Michael is against 'shiny stuff' on his basses, but my Marilyn has developed a shiny spot where my finger touches the top when I slap, and this has led me to think two things:

What are the specs of your future neck-through?
