This summer I may be joining your club. But, I have a question. Everyone (who likes Schroeder) loves their 1212. My question is - if I paired up the Mini 12+ and the Mini 12 would I achieve the same sound?

The reason for this is that I'm a poor sod who can't afford anything. :(

Chris,
I have never played through a 1212, so I don't really know how similar they would sound. They definitely won't sound the same though (different designs = different sound). Based on what I have read, I think two Mini12+ cabs would sound more full and a little deeper than a 1212, mostly because the drivers aren't blocked (on the new Mini12) and more cabinet volume per driver. That's purely speculation though.

If you decide to go with the Mini12+, I would stick with the R series. Apparently they have more low end than the L series (although Jorg tells me that his new L series speakers come pretty close to matching the tone of the R series). The R series is cheaper too.

I'm not sure that it's going to save you any money though. My pair of Mini12+R cabs was $400 more than a 1212L. If money is a big concern and you don't think one Mini12+R is going to be sufficient, you might want to consider a 1212R. It is by far the least expensive way to get some serious volume out of a little box with good tone IMO.

It is indeed seriously baddadz.
For really stupidly large gigs, I swap a 410L underneath.

For massively unbelievably stupidly large gigs, I can run the 2x1212L off one side of the QSC, and the 410 off the other.

Wow...that rig would could do it all. Small with one box, medium and large with the whole rig. And it would sound good doing it in either configuration. Very nice.

Just wanted to add:
One of the jam nuts on a 1/4" input jack buzzed loose and got lost.

Jorg didn't send me a new jam nut in an envelope like I asked.
He sent two whole replacement assemblies in a box, priority mail, his expense.

That my friends, is exceptional service.

My 410R did'nt come with casters and I asked Jorg if I could get some-he sent me some for free-I insisted on paying for them...he intensely resisted...we went back and forth over a couple weeks and I finally said that I would not relent and that he deserved to make a good living for his good cabs and good service, and he finally kept my check...hesitantly...Yes... as Chef has already said...Exceptional!! :D Peace... Attached is my 1212L pic. It mates to a LMII. Thinking about getting a Mini 12+ Light
So I'm part of the club?

Thanks for your replies, guys. I have now realised that saving up for a 1212 is a better idea than getting one small cab, waiting a while, then getting another. I'm digging the reviews the 1212 is getting - especially how it's supposed to be so good at projecting your sound with great tone at the same time. I can't wait.

Now the question is, AccuGroove or Schroeder? But that's a question only I can answer.

Peace, Schroeder-Gang.
Chris.

Hello all,

I'm on a quest for a larger cab. Has anyone used a 21012L or 410L with a MarkBass SD800.

I have a 1210R and Mini12+R and I'm looking for a little more oompf for the larger gigs.

As always, any input will help.

Later, Kirk

Haven't tried those combinations, but have used all those pieces of gear separately. IMO, the SD800/21012L would probably not be a good thing... too much 'deep lows and polite low mids meets deep lows and polite low mids). From my experience with the BergantinoAE410/SD800, I would guess the more tight and mid punchy 410L/SD800 would be killer as long as you like it deep, wide, clean and modern sounding.

I have tried my LMII with my 410L and it kicks some serious booty!! Loud, punchy and a lightweight rig compared to using my Fender pre/Qsc power amp. I used the LMII/410L for a casual, huge ballroom, no problems.

I have almost the identical set up (I have a 12L+ which I use as my Jazz cab). I've been thinking I might a little more speaker square footage for a new rock band I've joined and was thinking along the lines of getting a 1212L to tuck under the 1210R.:hmm:
