I stack it that way to get the top cab nearer ear level (and they dont quite stack perfectly anyway :-( ).
I use the traveler cab on its own for quite a few gigs, but the 2 together are excellent.

That is spot on - exactly! My Shure SLX Wireless goes on top of the lot at gigs.
Sound wise, the traveler on its own is a great cab. I stad it on its end when using it singly too, and it is great for rehearsals and monitoring. The Std 102 is a excellent, superb, brilliant cab. Used alone it is full and meaty, with plenty ot phunch, cut and lows.
Both cabs together are awesome. an immense sound, but articulate, musical, clear, full and deep. Both basses soudn great - the Ray punches and slices and growls, and the jazz does all teh jazz stuff just like it should through this rig - barks aggressively, and rumbles low down.

Not sure about the stacking
although I did try my cabs both on end once so the speakers lined up.When you have yellow speakers maybe it's a good idea to be as inconspicuous as possible though
We have a lot in common there, Chris
!I was using my Traveler 121H on top of Hartke cab for a while, although the Hartke was never actually connected
- I just used it as a "stand" for the MB cab (they sounded dreadful together 
) and as somewhere to stand my beer (can't play without that stuff :scowl: )!Now, I've added a second 12" MB cab (before they discontinued this model
) and it sounds very much as you described your two cab combo. Plenty of low-end now, compared to the slightly too "punchy" sound of one 12" cab.I know that I've posted one of these pics somewhere before, but here's the old set-up and the new one, for comparision purposes:

kasbrey, forgive me, but I'm on a personal mission to dispell the myth that Markbass speaker cones are "yellow". In the second photo in my post above, the singers' T-shirt is YELLOW, the Markbass amp and speakers are black and ORANGE!
And, yes ... they are very conspicuous!

Best person to ask would be Marco i guess. maybe he could give you the Pantone number (if thats what he went by).
I would say they are orange as well but i dont think you can tell by looking at a photo like the ones posted here

Yeah, I don't care that much of the difference between old and new designs. They stack well, are very portable (the "heaviest" element is less than 40 lbs), sound HUGE, and give me the most of flexibility (due to the fact that both cabs have adjustable tweeters). BTW I tested the cabs together but also as standalones, and they sound incredible. Neat preference (still as standalone) for the 151P, but the 102P sounds very nice too.
First rehearsal tomorrow with this new setup, I'll tell you guys what my fellow musicians in the band will say about that.
I traded in my previous stuff (Ashdown ABM500 + MAG210T + ABM115) at no regret at all.
Yeah that's the old design. Sounds IN-CRE-DI-BLE. This 15" is actually VERY fast, almost no audible difference from a standard 10".
Hi Dave! I once started a whole thread here, entitled "What colour is yellow"? It ran to about 100 replies, I think
.The funny part was that some people (mostly, those who'd never see any MB gear up close, I believe), kept on posting a quote from Marco, which mentioned the eye-catching "yellow livery". The point that they were all missing, was that that quote was from 2004/5, when all Markbass gear really was yellow (like the 15" cab above)!
In the poll that I ran with that thread, most people thought that the cabs were "the colour of carrots"
. That either means that thought that they were a kind of "off-orange", or that they really didn't care either way! That must surely have been one of the most ambiguous and ill-advised uses of the word, "carrots" in any TB poll to date !At least most of us agree that it sounds good ...

Yes, the old design is more yellow than the new one. Actually, and at least from the way we latin people consider colours (and this may be different in America, in UK or anywhere else), the new Markbass design is halfway between yellow and orange (we call it canari yellow), but with a slight touch of orange added, so that, yes you're right, this is more of orange than yellow.

I think that we will have to "agree to differ" there, Jay.To my eyes, the MB colour is almost identical to the one you have labelled "orange", except that the actual gear looks slightly more "orangey"
.Incidentally, there is a colour called, "ocre", which is between yellow and orange and is closer to most people's perception the the MB livery.
Anyway, I've posted enough irrelevant stuff in this thread for one day (or possibly for several
), so I'll leave all you serious musicians to get back to the topic in hand.- Status
