Oh, I totally believe the Markbass sounds better, I was just saying that if it weighs that little, exceeding the Peavey in sound quality isn't necessary.
Well, it does, and IMHO, it does, so if you agree after testing it yourself, you get to have your cake and eat it too. Not bad! :)

man, i've become so aggravated at what i've been going through for the past 10 months with the amp company i'm with right now (i blew a driver last august and my cab is still not working...no one can find my driver and no one seems to care about sending me a replacement...sucks) that i'm thinking about dropping it and picking up a markbass 610 and an sd800 to roll with it

I assume from your profile that you are refering to the company we have all been talking about lately.....and its' customer service problems
If you are used to the sound of that cab, I don't think you'd be satisfied with the Neo drivers you are thinking of.

Well I don't think I've ever been quite THIS impulsive with bass gear...

Could somebody mark the turnaround time on that? :D

i gotcha...i've tried them out at GC...it's definitely a different sound, but it's one that i find quite usable...yes, that's the company, but i've been with them for over ten years, and i still love their stuff...i'm staying on-topic with this one, though
A couple comments...

I LOVE how you're taking the high road in how you're posting about this! NICE JOB!!

On the MB cabs... I thought they were nice, but don't limit yourself to those. As far as I've been able to tell, there's no specific magic between a MB head with MB cabs. I use my LMII with all kinds of stuff and it still sounds great.

+1...the LMII sounds great with everything I've plugged it into...

+1... the vast majority of posts from guys who don't particularly like the Markbass stuff seem to be from those who only tried them with Markbass cabs in the store.

That's my take too, except for me small and light is enough to keep it - if it were the same size/weight as other amps I've had/have I'd not have bought it.

Call me "on the fence". I find it has some good versatility with the filters, and I can get good sounds out of it - even when set fairly flat - but frankly I can get by just fine with almost any amp that functions at a usuable volume.

Every gig I've taken the LMII to and a/b'd it with the
Focus/Praradriver combo, myself and everyone else who
listened, liked the Focus/Paradriver more at higher volume.
The LMII seems to sound boxier and more compressed.
The Focus/Paradriver has more headroom too. But at lower
volume, they are both very usable. your milage may vary.

What cabinet do use with the LMII? I just did a small soloish gig with it about a week ago, and found when pushed, the 12' combo truly just sang.

I've used Berg HT112, Epi UL310, UL210, UL112, with the
LMII. The UL310 sounded the best, but its such a killer
box that it seems like it would work well with almost any amp.

Hello! +1 on the LMII and the multi-10 EpiUL's... sounds amazing with both the 310UL and 410UL.

However, it sounds really different from the Focus (even with a pre/EQ running in front of it). So, I can surely see if you love the Focus (like Will and you), then the Markbass (and probably the Walter Woods) would probably not be your thing. Interestingly, the 310UL did not work that great with the Focus IME, but the 410UL and also the 112UL's sounded great. Mix and match!!!!

I actually enjoyed my Focus, as long as I had some other pre running in front of it, but even then it was just a touch dark to me... pure personal taste... all this stuff is great in its own way I think:bassist:

I've been running the Paradriver into the effects return of
the Focus. It actually makes a pretty good preamp with a
good DI. HOWEVER!!!!!!! With the electric bass, the Focus
usually works MUCH better with some kind of preamp or eq.

So Bruce, with electric do you just put the para driver in front of the focus instead of in the effects return? ..or are you using a different pre for that?
