Have you considered a MB SA450? It has the tone of the LMII but better mid range control.
I went for one when i first got my 1210 as i didnt want to sound too middy and felt the extra control the SA450 had would be a better match to the cab. I now use just a LMII with the 1210 but i do like to boost around 100hz sometimes when im using my UL212 cab.

Just a thought.

I did and I actually had thought that the size and weight difference was more significant than it actually was. I was looking at a bunch of amps and must've confused the specs on a couple. :hmm: Already paid for the LMII though, so I'm hoping it'll get a couple tones I like, and my love of effects will probably see me with a parametric EQ before long anyway. Thanks for the thoughts though.

Ah, good point. Well, to be honest, that is not really a viable comparison, IMHO. It kinda comes down to tubes versus solid state, and a whole bunch of other variables.

That's what I figured you'd say. Makes sense, of course.

I think I remember some folks comparing the SD800 to the DB750, which might be where the question comes from, but I THINK those comments were about output, not necessarily tone, and maybe that was not clear. Anyway, just a guess.

What is interesting is seeing all you guys with these tiny rigs - like a 1x10 or 1x12. Maybe it is the style of music, but I just can't get what I need out of them. When I joined the MB family I sort of had it in mind like a 2x10 and maybe a 1x15 or something, but the big ass 610 I ended up with just smashed them all with its massive wall of bass. (thank god it weighs a lot less than the ampeg equivalent!).

For the record, I play mostly caribbean stuff. So maybe it is just a style thing. Depending on the size of the gig I may or may not have PA support. (although after I got it I got a lot of compliments at a show we did with PA support about how much better the bass sounded. (it is a place we play frequently, so there is basis for comparison)).

I agree with you on some of that. when i hear how someone filled a room with a 210 and only had the LMII on 9 o'clock and had a brass section etc and no PA support i find it hard to believe the sound was full and deep. I struggle with my 4 ohms UL212 and my SA450 on 12-1 o'clock with just a 4 piece playing weddings etc sometimes. But like you say, its probably down to the style of music. I also think that there is a difference in being heard and getting the tone you really want out in the room.

I had a MB 151P cab for two gigs and even my band complained they couldnt hear me, even on stage. Thats the smallest and lightest cab i have owned and also the worst IMHO. Got a UL115 and what a difference. Bigger sound and more full range. But of course a bigger cab.
But thats just me.:hiding:

your post there reminded me of the folks who say "This here pentium 90mhz is plenty fast for everything I do! Browsing, email, video editing, everything ! fast as can be" meanwhile I'm sitting here at a dualie 2.5ghz g5 with a metric ton of ram saying "[bad word] it this thing is slow". Different strokes for different folks. Their idea of fast & mine are apparently completely different.

Indeed.

Thats not to put the MB heads down at all though (or a P3 running win NT). Mine are enough for any gig i have to play (or had to in the past) but i dont have to fill a room, only the dance floor normally. And the 1210 is the one cab i dont worry wether ill have enough power to keep up with the rest of the band.

I should note I run my monster with an lm2. A gig I did earlier this week - outside in an open area I pushed it pretty far, gain up a good way and volume up to about 3. But I had no PA support and from what folks said, the bass was quite plentiful.

I'm actually kind of scared of pushing this cab to its upper end. The lm2 is 500w @ 4ohm. The 610 is rated to 1200w and is a 6ohm load. It must be quite deafeningly loud.

Oh yes, im really only talking about the small cabs filling a room. I realise 500watts is very loud through a good efficient cab but not to the point of projecting a good low end across a crowded room IMHO.
Of course, im normally proved wrong.

My LMII kicked it out big time last night without reaching for the EQ much! That made me very happy.

This was the EQ Setup I used.

Pre-Gain - Soft Clip setting around 3 o'clock
Bass - 12 o'clock
Mid Low - 2 o'clock
Mid High - 4 o'clock
Treble - 5 o'clock
VLE - OFF
VPF - OFF
Master Volume - between 8 and 9 o'clock.

Big compliments on my tone. :D Big Cheezy grin from me. The greatest thing about this amp is that it practically pays for itself after a few gigs. No complaints at all about the $600 price tag.

Does anybody know the price point of availability of the Studio Pre in the US? I'd love to check one out since I'm already using the LMII DI Out to drive my Bergie IP112/EX112 Stack. Very cool. I LOVE this company too! Gary
