Ah, that makes sense. I have never been there, but I suppose the brochures and pictures should have clued me in. But, this is Joker we are talking about, and he does have some weird obsessions, so you never know... :eyebrow:

Also, in my defense, that photo reminds me a lot of my basement (sans carpet). :smug: :D

Tom,

Regarding basements, is it possible that an extra SA cab is misplaced somewhere in all that gear of yours?
Seriously though, I am in need of a SA410, a SA210 or both. I guess I'll just take a number, get in line and be patient.
As far as an HS210, I know many of you have tried it with the SA200 with good results, but have any of you had experience pairing it with a SA410. Pros/cons. This might be an option way down the road if a SA cab does not come up.

This pic seems to be my ideal rig. Which leads me to te following:

After stepping back from my 112 x3 plan, I might be getting back to an all SA/HT 10" solution.

I already have a SA410 and a Mesa M6.

Question: How does the SA410 pair with a Berg HS210 (I am aware of the HT/SA relation)

Can the HT210 (SA210) be used as a stand alone cab on small stages and rehearsals?

strange sure, but weird? hahah... tho i do have an autographed john abercrombie picture somewhere. :eyebrow:

and yea, it is the sadowsky demo room. posted the pic cause, thought it was a rather sly and hilarious mental jab that roger & co. would put the micro-VR in there, riiiiiiiight next to the ol' sa200 stack, which not at all conincidently i also have at home in its full 1080i hidef 10.1 surround glory.

i had an hs210 for a looooooong while w/ my sa200, and frankly, it was the next best thing to complement the sa210. great steely punch, detail, and overall synergy w/ the sa200 amp. was a waaaaaaaaay better fit than the other cabs i shopped for it, i.e. aguilar db112, epifani ps112, berg ae210. course, i'm realizing its a faaaaaaaar second place to its replacement, the sa210.

didnt try the hs210 w/ the sa410, but the sa210 atop the sa410 adds this terrific articulation that's especially awesome higher volumes. together its literally the apex/top/pinnacle/mt effing rushmore of the sadowsky sound.

...and i will step into the octagon with you for tom's extra if-he-even-dares-to-sell-it sa210.

no doubt,

i feel almost like the ampeg is on one other side of the tube amp spectrum, and the sa200 on the other.

the svt2pro has lots of lower end grunt and push, that just says AMPEG. its a powerful mother that really imposes its voice onto whatever's going into it and whatever its sending to.

the sa200 is much leaner, meaner fighting machine. its a more hifi, taut, tube sound that's more akin to what you'd find in great console or rack gear, very different than the ol' goober slow syrupy tube sound many might be more familiar. you get that sweet brownie chocolate warmth, gorgeous articulation, which is especially apparent, the louder you go, and it just feels faster and more responsive than most all tube amps i've used/owned.

dont get me wrong, i LOVE the svt2pro. a terrific amp who's EQ section i especially love. but the sa200 at this point much more greatly complements my current playing/technique. and besides, its half the weight, but w/ all the tone i want!

I sold that setup lol, but i was using this for the SA200. Plenty of protection for how i take care of my gear... Check around the internet...might be cheaper prices on the rack bag on eBay or something. Good luck!

I just got my SA200 :hyper::hyper::hyper:

I tried it with my Berg HS210.

This combo seems rather quiet, when played clean, though. I 've had another 200watts tube head (Weber Mywatt, a Hiwatt clone). So think this one should be louder....

So I was wondering about the power tubes.
What are the standard tubes in this amp?
Mine are Svetlana EL34.

Just below the made in Russia label there are different # combinations:

06 01
03 01
03 06

What do these numbers say? Are they productions dates?

Can I do better with other tubes? I read somewhere that TADs were stock. If so, what TADs?

These leads me to the question about the preamp tubes.
It has 2 TAD OEM 12AX7 and a unbranded 6N1P

I was using my rev PJ5 with +- 20% bas boost, treble flat, about 75% P pickup.
I even lowered the P PU but the amp seems to overdrive at very low Gain settings (-6 db engaged, Clean mode, Gain at 9 o' clock, Volume from 3 to maximum, Master dimed).

Is this normal?

No, that does not sound normal to me. My SA200 stays clean to very high volumes, unless I am trying to push it to overdrive/grind a bit.
