Yes, I would say that the HS410 is a bit more versatile than the SA410, as it has a tad wider (deeper) frequency range, and a more balanced response from top to bottom. For most applications, I think I will find myself favoring the HS410, in fact. But, the SA410 has a bit more bark and growl, though, and to be honest, I think it might be a better fit for the DB 750 (and several other heads). The 750 has massive lows (and the SA410's can take some bass boost, if need be), but the SA410's added midrange push is a very good thing with the DB 750, if you ask me.

While I'd say I prefer the HS410 on the whole, I can see the SA410 outperforming the HS410 in certain applications.

agreed!

the sa410 does feel a bit tighter than the berg hs410, and i do feel there's more tonal synergy w/ the sa200 +sa410. especially at higher volumes, the sa410 just feels more taut. heck, this past friday, went all sadowsky, i.e. sa200, sa410, sad vj5, and yes, i went to sadowsky heaven. "pounding" comes to mind.

still, both the hs410 and sa410 are just insane w/ the sa200 regardless, and IMHO, with the sa cabs slowly going out of stock, the hs series is truly without a doubt the next best thing. BUT, if you have an sa200, it goes without saying that the sa410 is THE BEST match. heck, i went thru every single big cab at two very respectable shops (jivesound & bass specialties), and the sa410 was the only one that said, "TAKE ME!"

admittedly, the sa200 + sa410 is NOT gonna be as responsive nor as fast as my epifani setups, its still one of the most satisfying all tube sounds i've heard in a long while. has that thick "just finished thxgiving dinner, watchin' football on the couch" all tube weightiness that i love.

and the 750 is bonkers w/ the sa410. i know some guys thought it was too grunty, but i loved it! especially w/ my sadowsky basses. actually, just thinking about it, is making me GAS for the 750 behemoth! at bass specialties, the sa410 was my fav cab w/ the 750. even moreso than the aguilar line, despite my stressing of brand on brand sounding best. oh well...

FYI, these days, i've been really loving my sa200 w/ my hs210. it truly is a mini rig of tube amp bliss. just ridiculously good together. i tried a number of "voiced" small cabs, which i felt best complemented the rather soft sounding EQ of the sa200, e.g.

- schroeder 1210L (too muddy in the mids, and too blurry in the upper mids)
- aguilar db112 (lower voiced mid punch of the hs210 vs. higher mid punch of db112. hs210 won out. also, oddly, the hs210's better handles made it much easier to carry)
- eden 112xlt (not too bad, nice juicy highs, but didnt like the rest)

funny, but i have yet to stack the hs210 ontop of the sa410 (in a friend's studio at the momento), but i can only imagine... oh yes...

Well, looks like it Satan will be lounging around the pool eating snowcones before I'll own one of those!!!

Now, Eden has a big tube head made by Koch (same guys who built the SA200).... I DO have a deal with them still.....wonder if I could get one to check out......

I've found an SA410 that's for sale, but my question to those in the know is: in the majority of playing situations, for use exclusively with the SA200, what should I buy - the SA410, the HS410, or one of each (!)...jokerjkny seems to prefer the SA, while it looks like tombowlus favors the HS.

I'm generally not a fan of these types of "which is better" questions, but another available SA410 might be a loooong way off, so if somebody has any thoughts to add to the discussion, stand up and be heard!

I've got an sa410 and love the crap out of it coming from an ampeg 410hlf. I am thinking about adding a cab for larger venues and the mamoth factor I love. Unfortuantely I could never afford an sa200 to drive these boys...

Initially I was on to making an sa 810 out of two sa410's stacked. I heard great things about the sa210/sa410 stack and that supposedly it added more bass? And now I'm wondering about the sa410/hs410 combination. That could be mega mamoth with the increased low end of the hs and the bite of the sa.

If any of you fellas get to putting these together do tell about it!
