I am fortunate to have landed one of the last three SA200 heads at the Sadowsky shop. It's a shame the amp did not sell well enough to allow it to propagate into more homes, studios and stages. Everbody should be able to relish this ear candy.

Man does that amp sound good.

OT.......Hey Jim, what's up with your samples on cdBaby (of your disc)???
They sound dis-jointed at times. Sorta like when tracks get corrupted and un-align themselves in something like Pro-Tools or DP.

My faves are the NV series cabs from Jim B, two SA410's (whoa, Momma!), EA NM-410, Phil Jones 9B/6T, and most recently, the Berg HS410. The HS410 goes deeper than the SA410, and has a more balanced midrange response, with great fullness and clarity from top to bottom. The SA410 has a bit more midrange punch, but it's a broad, even midrange 'push', as opposed to a 'hump' or 'peak.'

I would die for a SA200 & SA410!!!!
That is one rig I wouldn't mind about the weight!!!!

I have an Eden WT800 and 210XLT& 210XST I'll swap for the above!!:D
Heck, I'll even toss in a 1 pound bag of M&M's!!!

Actually, from the specs, the SA200 is fairly light. For an all tube amp, it is actually mind bogglingly light.

The 4x10s are up there though.

Aw.... Tom, I thought my GAS was done!! Would you say that the HS410 is more inherently versatile than the SA410??? I've been using the SA410 a lot, and I do find myself boosting the bass more on my amp or bass than I did with my HT322 (duh..). but now you have me intrigued about the HS410..... Anyone have one in SoCal?

Hmm....I find the SA410 has fairly prodigious bass. Far less dark than my EA VL210, much more in your face in a good way, and a zillion times more efficient. I don't have any Bergantino cabs to compare to.

I am supposed to have a second SA410 arrive next week.

There aren't many cabs darker sounding or less efficient than a VL210! The SA410 was designed with very tight speaker surrounds that result in a rather rolled off low end that makes that cab mimic a sealed cab's low end response. Of course, reduced bass response results in high efficiency.. loud per watt, which is also a good thing for the moderate power of the SA200. It was designed specifically for use with the SA200.. i.e., to control that big low end that would not typically sound good with a ported cab. When the SA200 was discontinued, the SA410 lost its reason for being.

From what I understand, the HS410 is a revoiced SA410 that uses more standard speaker surrounds to extend the low end so that the cab has bass response more appropriate to moderate power SS heads.

Both the HS410 (which I haven't had the pleasure of trying yet) and the SA410 (which I have) are quite different from the earlier large HT boxes, which have almost the opposite driver design... extreme hi xmax woofers and a huge horn crossed over low enough to plug the upper mid hole caused by the somewhat reduced upper mid response of the high xmax woofers, resulting in an uber crisp, wide, deep, studio monitor type tone (to my ears anyway). As a result, they are relatively inefficient (though not as bad as the VL210) due to the wonderful, deep bass response.

Cool stuff.... different cabs for different purposes and tone goals.... just FYI.

Yes, I would say that the HS410 is a bit more versatile than the SA410, as it has a tad wider (deeper) frequency range, and a more balanced response from top to bottom. For most applications, I think I will find myself favoring the HS410, in fact. But, the SA410 has a bit more bark and growl, though, and to be honest, I think it might be a better fit for the DB 750 (and several other heads). The 750 has massive lows (and the SA410's can take some bass boost, if need be), but the SA410's added midrange push is a very good thing with the DB 750, if you ask me.

While I'd say I prefer the HS410 on the whole, I can see the SA410 outperforming the HS410 in certain applications.
