The Precision needs a new neck and some form of Humbucker in the P position.

If you don't like how it sounds with both pickups on try to reverse it and move it a bit towards the neck. In this bass of mine the E/A side coil is just a bit closer to the bridge compared to the regular P position and the D/G coil a bit closer to the neck. Still does a pretty good P sound but sounds better when both pickups are on. I just recently swapped the bridge pickup to a MM style humbucker and I think I like it more than the reverse P it had there too.

I know, the routing is crude but it was already when I got the body and you should see the under-the-pickguard crater. I don't know what there was previously but I my kids can swim there in the summertime.

The P pickup is a regular Dimarzio DP122 reversed and in a custom enlargened cover. The bridge pickup was the same, here's one compared to a normal MM size.
Why did I want it like that and not just a reversed P? Well, I like big pickups and because of Neil Murray's old modded Tele P-bass.

Ford Maverick 1977
2.3, 4 cyl engine

Earlier versions had 3.0 6 cyl, same as Jeep.
Also had V8 version.

So reliable, you can fix it with a simple screwdriver. At least that was the slogan, or something like it that someone at Ford came up with.

Hey, if nothing else it looks like the battery is in great shape! That’s $200 less that you’ll need to spend to get her how you want her.

That engine is why very few Pintos stayed on the road for very long. The comparable Dodge Aspen was a better car.

I fell in love with the band because of this album, and the first song was part of it, my love for Cat's version not withstanding. But Don't Talk grabbed me and ravaged me like a lover.

Also, she had her eyes open more here than she did in some entire concerts at that point. I wonder if it was because they pushed that for TV or because there were fewer people staring at her. She was always one of my very favorite band fronters because she just did whatever the heck she wanted on stage and ignored the haters. Watching her dance was cathartic (and a lot like my dancing). YMMV.

Totally with you on that. Natalie is a treasure. I lost interest in the band after she left but still listen to the albums with her on them. I saw them in Sacto in 2016. Just not the same without her.

It’s pretty typical and from my experience much more pronounced in the Fender world, to the point that they even have an accessory called a “fat finger” that helps compensate for it…

You could put one on a bird but there is something you can try first to see if you have the same issue.

On a Gibson Tbird - put several layers of masking or painters tape on the front and back of your headstock to protect the finish. Then clamp a small C clamp (one that weighs less than a quarter pound) to your headstock. Now play the same note. The weak note should have shifted to a different fret or maybe even went away. If it went away then the solution would be to add or remove weight to the neck permanently with either a fat finger or weights or possibly one or more heavier tuners.

Or do like most people and just live with it. Unless you have a solo using that spot on the neck you’ll never hear the difference in a mix.

on a related note - this brings up an evil thought that I’ve had in the past. If I had the talent to write music I’d come up with a bass line solo that calls for loud sustained notes but relies heavily on the typical fender dead spot area of the neck. Imagine the frustration it would cause in the Fender world if they couldn’t play the song. Pure evil.

My precision has a weak C# on G. It’s not dead. If I need to sustain a standard octave C#, like for a whole note, I either play it on the D or ignore it. It is hardly noticeable anyway at volume. I’m guessing there are more than 1000 pages on TB discussing the issue. I don’t get all the fuss.

Same here. Employers are screaming. I get offers all the time. And I’m trying to retire. I’d leave the current clampdown in a heartbeat if it weren’t for the loss of the company match of some funds in the 401 K. I’m shackled until 03/01 after my sixth year with the company.

Our ‘65 Holden Special (turquoise with white roof) had a camping option. the front bench back folded back to meet the edge of rear seat making a large bed.
When we were children our parents would arrange the 3 of us across the width of the car, each having one section of the seat each. They don’t make them like they usedta

Interestingly, the Epiphone NR(the one I had was a 5er), which had P/J pups, had the E/A, D/G reversed from the factory. I'm not sorry I bought it. I'm equally not sorry I sold it.
