Thunderbird Club

@MCF that Peavey bass fell through. The guy gave me 12 hours notice to drive 120 miles round trip in commute traffic to meet him at 8am the next morning. I asked how long he would be there and the smart arse said 1 minute. Post now says sold. Too good to be true? Likely.
I hate that in one way, but given human sphincter you were dealing with there could likely have been issues in keeping with the ones he had personally.

I have several basses out here and kind of rotate them, when I get sick of one I pick up another etc. I've also still been experimenting with tone settings, techniques etc. This morning I picked up the NR, turned the tone up to ten, set the Ampeg to a lot of bottom and treble, cut some midrange and started playing it with a fairly heavy pick with Rotos on it, man this thing sounds good! It has that piano sound.
I am doing a gig maybe twice a month, blues, the guitarist is good and the crowd while small is very appreciative of the two gringos and one Peruvian playing blues, drums, bass and guitar. He actually liked the T-Bird.
That sounds great. Make sure someone records a little of it.

I have a set sitting in their box. I never quite gelled with them. I don’t care for how they feel.
Yes, kind of rubbery. I never quite clicked with them either. I had them one the '06. The La Bella nylons are way better for that bass. (SITs sounded good too, but I got to really liking the black string look.

It’s a little bit of everything…

Kind of a Ric bridge, Grabber pick guard, Eppi knobs, Fender Tele neck pup, P bass Bridge pup, EB tone dial, Tbird wood and color…
and those tone plug ins…very cool, if I recall, i wasn’t impressed with the quality when i tried one decades ago, heavy….would have never guessed they were gonna appreciate like that….awesome styling, almost like a Travis Bean outline….

That can only be blamed on the player of said bass.
I slammed a drummer on his head with my '65.
Nah, it is the nature of a P-bass. I keep mine securely penned up in a gig bag in a closet in the basement. It sweet talks its way out of the house and gets in trouble. Last time it got out, it beat up the neighbor's guitar and burned itself smoking cigarettes in a garage. It has a bad, bad attitude. The player can only keep it out of trouble so much. So you see, it wasn't your doing.

I'm pretty sure this is where I mutter something about not actually playing bass. I used to (not well, but that hardly seems to be a barrier for entry on this website) but I'm on severe medical restrictions for at least a few more months. It's possible that switching to lefty would be ok, and who knows, I'm a bad enough player that it might not make much difference. I'm pretty sure that I don't at this moment need another bass since there are already two hanging neglected on my wall.

As for housekeeping, if I had a quarter for every time I moved a pickguard thread from Accessories to Hardware....
What are your basses?
