I didn't really listen, just looked.
When I went back to school I had to write a cause and effect paper. I used the subject matter that Barry Gordy of Motown was the reason the world was subjected to Nicole Richie. I don't know how good my theory was but I received an A on the paper.
Maybe the good grade was just because it made the teacher laugh. I was a huge fan of The Cult in the 80's. I was actually angry when Electric came out because it was such a huge change from Love. I got over myself and grew to appreciate Electric and Sonic Temple, but Love is still my favorite Cult album by far.

Probably covered to death, but I love my Hercules stands. I have a single and a dual.
There's zero difference electronically.
How they hold up will depend upon manufacturer and construction.
I prefer right angle for the bass end because nothing sticks out as far, so less chance to break something. I want a right angle for the pedal end just because the input switch is cramped for space. But also for the same reason as the bass end. Less things sticking out = les chance of things breaking due to klutz factors.
The only real exception is for Strat-type jacks. I'm perfectly happy with straight connectors for those.
