Thunderbird Club

Looks like a lot of fun if you have plenty of wrenching time. Or a bottomless pit of money to pay somebody else to work on. I wouldn't turn it down if somebody gave it to me, though...

If I'm going to take on that kind of maintenance, it needs to be a Vincent.
been here a couple of days and seems like the guy uses it to go to and from work…

Hi all. Long time no see, thanks to chucky stiletti my ashdown is still going strong. Been renovating the house for the last few years and tinkering with a few bits and bats. Anyway I bought this second hand. Might look like a thunderbird but it sure ain't. Fazeley, £53 on the bay. 20230223_174800.jpg

Hi gang,

I've almost finished upgrading my 2009 Gibson 'bird that I've had since new. Images will be posted once I'm done! I think that I'm going to go without pickup rings/cover as I have worn the finish/timber down over the neck pickup into the shape of my thumb and I don't want to lose that comfort, but I am considering a bridge cover.

Does anyone make one in nickel that would cover a Hipshot Supertone? It's a nice, adjustable bridge but my lord is it ugly. I know Thunderbucker Ranch used to but he seems to have disappeared (and I'm not sure it would fit over the Supertone anyway).

Thanks!

Close enough. It is a TSO.

I sure don't know who makes them now, but check on ebay and reverb.

Many around here rock Thunderbird shaped objects. It's all good!

I've got to watch that again, I haven't seen it since it was new.

Wow! Really? I've watched hit a few times over the years - it's such classic pop-cinema. I've always loved '60s black & white pop cinema! I think I'll watch it again too! :)

Clearly you haven't run across the Thunderbird deniers. They're convinced the mighty birds are a conspiracy started by Communist anti-Leo-Fender forces still controlled from a HQ somewhere deep underground in Cuba with a tunnel system, that goes under the ocean to the southern tip of Florida, then spreads throughout North America, complete with a left turn at Albuquerque.
Those crazies. I pay them no mind.

But I will be more careful what I say in case there is a tunnel under the house.

Are you a practicing therapist.?
No, but done a fair amount of counseling over the decades. I'm kind of free and we get to the point and solution quicker, unless it's an organic problem requiring meds or way over my head. Then I refer to specialists that I trust. (Which can be really tricky.)
