Thunderbird Club

The Foundations have less mids and are a little bigger sounding IME. I like them on a G&L which has tons of mids baked in. This is not to say that are hallow. I have the NPS.

This is what I got back from John H. at SIT with respect to Foundations:
The Foundations were designed with tonal balance and string flexibility in mind. They aim to sound less like an "angry piano" and more like a good old fashioned bass guitar. The Foundation Nickel variety is slightly brighter than our Power Wound series, and the Foundation Stainless will be slightly less bright than the Power Steels. The Foundations also have new core-to-wrap ratios resulting in a string that is also easier to bend. For what you're describing, we would personally recommend trying the regular Foundation Nickel variety.

Foundations? Did someone say Foundations?

Until no one will insure you, then what? I love CA, but it’s getting hard to stay…not that I have any options.
Yep. My place in the mountains, with a fire hydrant in the front yard, and a County fire station two miles away, is only insurable through the California Fair Plan. Many companies will not renew homeowners policies anywhere in the state. Some auto carriers, like Geico, are leaving the state entirely.

I was going to suggest seeing if Tim at ME has considered building a Subway preamp pedal. There's already a Super 800 (and Super 800 Plus!) after the GK 800RB so he'd have to name it something else. Super MBS?

He does make this.

Late I am to the party I see.

Ouch. I was a mess. Face all tore up. Couldn't do any/much dental work until other areas were healed some or addressed. That was the only time I've been knocked out. Concrete will do that. Woke up and was laying in blood. Almost passed out again!

Yikes! I don't recall too much immediately after the crash - more the aftermath.

String talk? Just put a new set of EXL170M to my recently purchased Squier Rascal and now it plays great. Inspired by that I put on my gig clothes (or actually the tie, those are my regular clothes) and shades and started to wait (in front of the mirror...) in case some psychedelic power pop band needs a bassist with a green bass. The inverness green NR will travel too.

I'm tempted to acquire one of these, & either keep just the neck or just the bridge pickup.

Maybe someone here can help me out, Having a hard time finding the info I need on Google so I'll see if anyone on here knows. I've got an epiphone thunderbird 64 and it seems like the string spacing is larger than normal for a thunderbird. The E and G strings feel very close to the edge of the board. My Classic Pro has a hipshot bridge which is I believe just shy of 17mm spacing. Does anyone know if the Newport had a wider spacing since it has a wider nut? The other 64 I had was closer to the classic pro spacing. Here are some pictures to show what I'm talking about. Was wondering if I maybe got a Newport Bridge if the spacing is different. The first one is my current 64, the white one is the classic and the red is the other 64 I had (best I could do was a blurry zoom since I don't own it anymore, and it's not dead on but I think it still shows the distance being larger to the edge of the board) it isn't unplayable but I am noticing I have to be a lot more precise, the G string has slipped off the board a few times.

Yes, in addition to all the variables, I seems like merely the temperature in the room makes what sounded right the night before sound wrong. Heck, sometimes I’m convinced my mood has something to do with what I’m hearing.
Acoustics (never mind psychoacoustics) are complex. Move the amp a few inches on the stage, how it sounds where can change. Angle it differently, ditto. Add people, ditto. I've no doubt ambient temp and humidity matter, too. Open a door or window, you just added a port to the giant cab that is the room (negligible in an arena, most noticeable in a small club type setting.)
