It seems to me an audio spectrum analyzer on a phone/tablet will only be as accurate as the mic in the device, including any baked in signal processing. I guess you could connect a high quality mic with a flat response.
Ipad mics are better than you think. These guys cover the basics: Microphones
The sheer amount of engineering that goes into an Apple (or any higher end) phone/tablet is amazing. I get to see some of it up close and personal.

It was a very different time. I didn't/don't care about his image-or whatever. Just don't care for his music. I know I'm in the minority here, but it is what it is.
And "I yam what I yam". Popeye
There's Bowie music I love. Bowie music I like, meh, Bowie music, and Bowie music that bores me. All over the map for me.

Yeah they are pretty good! I was just wondering how flat the response is and thinking the signal processing might give an inaccurate picture when being used for a frequency analyzer.

Rock stars..............

I think the neighbors are going to get to hear me play one of my '76s later.....

Miles is a good man, now this is providing my ancestors are the friendly ones.

I'm half Martian. The Martians get along with most anyone willing to get along with them. The ones H G Wells wrote about were the last of the Martian criminals. They stole what spacecraft we had and left, and we had no idea what happened until a couple of years later.

Luckily right? My worst bicycle get-off was descending Mt Tamalpais (Marin) at speed in '88, before I moved here in '90. I blew a left turn and the next thing I was aware of was being helped into a car and a trip to hospital. (blacked out/concussion) Basically a face-plant - glad not to have a memory of impact.

Yeah, given the results, I'm quite happy to have only a couple of stills past a certain point.
