So running my Classic Pro Thunderbird into my Mesa TT-800, into headphones from that amplifier produces strong overdrive, but with the lower output 'Heckinhecker' (Ric pups and harness) does not. I guess that's just the way of it...
I would use the blank nut to space the overlay from the fingerboard and do the slots after the bridge is installed.
Spent a lot of business time in Darmstadt in the early 2000’s, loved that and the surrounding cities. Tooled around in a Smart Car, great for around town and tight parking spaces (backed right in to parallel parking spots) terrifying on the autobahn.
Assuming it fits the reissue Gibson Tbird pups - if you make a 1/4” thick lexan template from your wood test template I’ll buy one from you.

I will once I have made it. Working from scratch from a raw rectangular blank.
Truly starting from zero on this nut. Will be the 4th I have made, and the others I had originals to replicate, or at least a shaped blank to start from.
Even thickness and cross-section profile I had no Tbird data to start from. Only online photos of instruments.

I occasionally see a Smart Car on the interstate - or worse, 80MPH toll roads here. I saw one in South Carolina, too (where the truckers drive insanely) That's just nuts.

- Lull, total zen, the bass and rig are doing all the work and it sounds like bliss
Truth be told, I have always been a bit Ric curious but never owned one. Tried one in a music store, neck felt bizarrely narrow (I was used to playing 5 string Alembic, Pedulla, Warwick and Fender basses at the time). Still, I love the look of that semi hollow Ric bass and the Cheyenne Ric as well. Maybe someday, after all, I could always drop Tbird pickups in it if I didn’t like the Ric sound.
