Thunderbird Club

Ok, working from home and did it in between work calls. Used a sharpie to color the edge black so there was no white showing. None more black!

Please tell me you’re joking about the 8Track. Do you still have tapes?

When I got my license in ‘74, the first thing I did was go to Pacific Stereo (now long gone) and get a Pioneer cassette player and speakers. It sounded great in that little Volvo. At one time I had about 250 cassettes copied from of my vinyl that I recorded through a Kenwood cassette deck.

We cruised Ocean Avenue in Lompoc (it was a thing back in the day) on Friday Nights blasting Bowie, Sabbath, Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, you get the idea. The cops hated us. Good Times!
My podcast co-host has a HUGE collection of vintage 8-track tapes that he has picked up over the years (mostly for very little money) and also has a couple fully functional players. Not that they ever get played, but he has quite the collection. Even has several John Entwistle solo 8-tracks that he was able to get autographed.

amazing there is a market for a fast looking car like that with an anemic 1.5 or even 2 liter motor....I know the price of fuel drives a lot of this but...,hopefully this wasn't the case here...

It looks like fun, but what's with the weird grin and odd welts on its nose? It looks like some kind of puffer fish or something.

Ha! I bet there is some great stuff in there. Tell Gary you guys have a fan in good ‘ol Bakersfield.

My wife had a cassette deck until 2014 when we replaced her previous car. Difficult to get by then. My 2023 Mazda 3 doesn't have a CD player and I'm still bummed.
Yeah my 2017 Sportwagon SV6 doesn’t have a cd player. I think the previous car, 2015 Calais sedan might have. It could play DVDs as well and show them on the centre screen - as long as you weren’t driving.

My old Volvo S80 had a small nav screen connected to a dvd player in the trunk for all the maps. My brother hacked it so regular DVDs would play. Looked awful on the crude little screen, but it was pretty cool for its time.

I have a c1958 Enicar that looks like that. Bought it because it reminded me of my Dads watch of a similar era. Manual wind up watch, like when I was a kid before the quartz watch.

I also have a 1972 Tissot Seastar automatic. Classic looking watch.
Tissot & Omega were the same company at this point before the Quartz war and the formation of the Swatch group. This watch shares a movement with an Omega, just cheapened a bit I expect.
