There are basses, and there are Thunderbirds!
Did a quick clip of the Cataldo NR41 if anyone is interested. A/B’d it with my ‘02 Gibson to hear the difference of the stock Gibson pickups vs the Thunderbucker Ranch ‘63
Sounds amazing!

How do you know you when need a break from this club?
I want to buy this:
For Sale - 1974 Rickenbacker 4000 Burgundyglo
and get a second pick-guard/controls and put a Thunderbucker/Lollar pick-up in the neck position.....
I know the seller, GOOD GUY!
Doesn't seem odd to me at all. If I was in the business of manufacturing/selling musical instruments... ya better believe the first place I'm makin' them available, is a place called "Music City"How odd there's one at your SA, but NYC is getting none.
I’ve thought the same in the past, but thankfully after seeing videos like this, it seems like he’s just a really nice guy who loves what he does.Great video!
For some reason I was under the impression he was a bit of a flashy douche, but that video changed that - He seems to be a quite cool outspoken dude, who knows his gear and doesn't mind sharing his "secrets".![]()
Yesterday I found a Thunderbird at my local pawn shop. After paying my debts I didn't have the cash to buy it outright but I was able to put it on layaway. Of course, it's not perfect but it looks great cosmetically and they gave me a guarantee. I think I stole it at $170.
I don't have any details yet as I know pretty much nothing about Epiphones, but I promise to have pics when I get out of the pawn shop in a couple weeks. I couldn't believe it, it's my first non-Fender bass and I'm thrilled.
Damn if you didn’t look like Brian May in that 1976 photo! Or at least in that photo.Oh, NO...not the hair!

Plugged it into a Rumble 500 with a Rumble 115 cab and tried it out for a few minutes. This one was pretty darn light. The neck profile was really good, for what I like. It had a couple ‘budget bass’ oddities like screws that weren’t completely sunk, as well as some that were put in crooked. No big deal, but I know that sort of stuff really bothers some folks. Sounded quite nice. Nothing like any of my ‘Birds, but nice in its own right. A bit more neck divey than any of mine, but nothing extreme. Salesman seemed pissed I didn’t buy it on the spot, but I’m pretty set at the moment. I seriously doubt he’ll have any trouble selling it fast enough. Pretty neat bass for the dough!
Whenever I ask my dad for something, he reminds me of the same thing...Every time I changed my daughter's diaper, I told her that one day she would be doing the same for me. I still remind her about it occasionally.
Stickers leave there mark on nitro, not noticeable to the naked eye, but under black light, it's very noticeable.
And no, I was not the one that put them on. Actually they were already removed long before I bought the bass.
After I brought the bass home, I got the idea to use the black light to see if there was any funny business with neck/headstock, there wasn't, but I stumbled upon these.
My 1st ever Bird arrived today! It was sunny here for 5 minutes today between rain storms so got some good light to take pics.
Sounds sweet despite the crummy stock strings! Pretty light too- 8lbs 5oz.

'... @Dr_Feelgoood212 scours the Earth for who put the stickers on!'Next on CSI Niagara...
ahhhh makes sense now... most of the places op to get the epiphone since it is waaaaaaaaaay cheaper.Still making them but you need to contact a dealer/distributor to order one from what I understand.
Maybe a little of "that" and a sticker on a bass won't seem like such a big thing....![]()
Yeah, me too. He took pics at the Maruszyck booth, didn't they just release a Bird? Not a single pic. One Bird in the whole thing, yeah it's a Dingwall so there's that, but isnt the Epi VP the most talked about new release in the whole world? No? Just here on the Thunderbird forum? It must be Russian collusion!
I am with you on the sunburst! Let's get some stickers made saying we don't like sunburst.....![]()
