Thunderbird Club

Wish I Still had that Bassman. Sold it-and another just like it-when I got outta the business for awhile. Lack of storage space. And here's these 2 again: I gotta get a new shot w/ the new PG.View attachment 3051422
Oh, I Do have new shots: 20180603153130.jpg 0606181340-00.jpg

Hey all! I want to build a non reverse T Bird .I was wondering if anyone could trace their T bird body for me.
I can provide the paper and the necessary envelope and postage to get it to me.
I would also need the body width at the end near the bridge.
If there is anything online I could get this from I'd like to know.I did see a diagram with dimensions,
so I'd fall back on that, but a tracing would be great. Thanks! Brian B.

I can't help you with a tracing but I can share these pics with measurements. If no one can get you a tracing of a Gibson NR, I can get one of an Epi NR which I *think* is the same body shape. I can't do anything for a week tho as I am leaving flying to Oregon super early in the morning.

Hmm. Interesting. When I did it(67/68)I plugged into the "Normal" channel, Volume-4ish, Treble4-5, Bass-10. Neck pup only playing background music for Officer's Club cocktail party. Acoustic piano, drums(mostly brushes)and me(EB-3). Never had a problem, no "Fartiness",sometimes played a little louder but that neck humbucker really rattled the walls. The bass was Navy issue, prolly a 67 but when I got out in Nov.68, I bought one for myself and used it in a couple of different amps 'til I got my '67 TBird in 73. First amp: View attachment 3051335 one like this, second amp:View attachment 3051338 this one-since 70! Yes, I've used this shot b4 but it's too heavy to take outside-again-for a better pic:rollno:
That first rig looks more like a Fender Bassman than a Super Reverb. I'd imagine the Bassman head with a bass cab held the bass guitar lows a bit better than a super reverb guitar combo. Just a guess on my part.

It IS a 64 Bassman. I had 2 of those. The Super Reverb was Navy issue. I never took a pic of it. It was prolly a 65 or 66 but since USN owned it, I never looked into it.

Use the B string much on that Epi?
It's my least played bass-or was 'til I put those EB Cobalts on it. With both my 5s, I don't use it as much as I should, rarely go to C more often just to D. A lot of big band things are in Eb so That comes in handy. I prolly never would've gotten Either 5er if I'd known about "octavers" when I got the Les Paul 5 in 96. I'm gonna be f(***)ing w/ the Epi Bird 5er on the next 2 gigs where I have enough room for it. <(ool)

I LOVE Chicago! Lived here most of the 90’s and left kicking and screaming :)
Chicago doesn't have tractor loads of drunken bachelorette parties acting the fool and swinging inflatable penii down Broadway, though.

You're right...Chicago is better...

Lemmy got fired from Hawkwind cause he was always stoned..LMAO:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
Funnily enough, I just finished watching a RockDoc on Motorhead. They said that Hawkwind was all queued up for a big U.S. tour when they found out Lemmy couldn't get a Visa cuzzuva prior conviction. Rather than cancel or postpone, they snatched up another bass player & set sail! Silly people thought they'd seen the last of 'im;)

I'm baffled by how flats of any kind would tear up your fingers. You are unique.
Yeah, I've been called unique before. Only not unique, more strange... Let's go with eclectic.

Don't understand it either, but it has only been cobalt flats that have done it.

and rounds don't chew up your fingers? Do they bleed?

Rounds are fine. Bleeding I leave up to @bylar13

I find it amusing because it ties Canada and Lemmy together somewhere in history. I find it amazing that Canadian officials would bust him considering what they are allowing through the borders today. Times have changed.
Law enforcement has always been filled with people who relish any chance to stick it to "them longhairs."

Christine may have those..

I don't but I can tell you how to do it yourself:

Find a large face on photo of a NR, open it up in something like Photoshop, Illustrator or Gimp. Show grids over the photo at 1" and create a new layer of the photo that can be resized. Resize the new layer so that the distance from the leading edge of the nut to the centre of the 12th fret is exactly 17" and save it there, you now have an accurate sized plan of an NR that you can plot to paper using the grids. Hope that makes sense and helps
